Daily Summary for 4/29/2024

BRT Back Broadcasting

Big Rig Steve broadcast day officially done at 14:47 CDT near the yard in Gary, IN.  Tomorrow morning at 6:00 CDT an appointment for Blue Comet for “A and B and the CalBIT service and all that good stuff.”

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 12:06 CDT at the usual starting location after off time for coffee, yup the Speedway, in Belvidere, IL.  Steve noted the coffee had not been good the last three times, so you know what that means?  Coffee at the nearest Love’s.

Steve noted that he feels “ten thousand times better.”  He received get well cards mailed to BRT headquarters and hundreds of emails.  No way to reply to them all, but many thanks.

Steve put camera into British mode at 12:13 CDT for a selfie to show that he feels and looks better.  We got the freezer going and all the broadcast equipment going.  He also noted that he mowed the backyard with the riding mower and even mowed the front yard with the walking mower.

Took the backroads of US 20 to the Love’s in Hampshire, IL.  Along the way BRS noted that TooOldMan had sent BRS some fuzzy Cheetos pants that he wore in the hospital which were comfortable.  Nicely done, TooOldMan to get that accomplished so quickly.  BRS also noted that he had lunch with Gossamer on Friday and that was good.

Arrived at Love’s at 12:49 CDT for some fuel for Blue Comet and good coffee.  We had not reached any status for Love’s points during the month of April for May.

Back on the big road I-90 tollroad at 13:07 CDT.  BRS spots a Cheetos depository on the left side of I-90 near Elk Grove Village, IL.

An airplane sighting by BRS at 13:40 CDT near Rosemont, IL.  Steve identifies it as a British Airways plane, it was later noted that it was coming from Heathrow in London,England going to O’Hare per C.B. and R.E.

A helicopter sighting at 14:17 CDT, BRS noted lots of blocked on ramps and eventually many many police cars on the westbound side.  It was later noted it was a funeral procession for a fallen law enforcement officer.

We continued our trip by rolling through downtown Chicago.

Numbers: 0 miles km to receiver.  We covered approximately 112 miles 180 km rolling through the backroads and big roads of IL.

Clocks: We started with a fresh 70 hour clock.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.

6 AM appointment for an all day shop day and even possibly a couple new tires for the Blue Comet.  Choose the BRT YouTube channel alarm bell to receive notifications for the start of our broadcast.

  2. RicRac – The time stamp you post is 4.30.24 at 4:46PM. Right now a few minutes have passed and it is 13:51 Eastern. I had mentioned this years ago and got an explanation – but forgot. Why is the time stamp 3 hours off in an easterly direction? jimhood75075@aol.com

    1. Website comments time stamp are based on alternate location time
Carlos would know where that time zone is located

      1. Looks like comment time stamps are in UTC (right now 4 hours ahead of Eastern).

  3. It is now 13:54 Eastern and the time stamp is +4 hours off.

    1. Definitely it is UTC. Consistent with Eastern, or more precisely, EDT, being UTC-4.

  4. Glad you are feeling better and back on the road. Tip- roll down the window so the Cheeto dust goes out the window, instead of your lungs.

  5. Hi Steve, I’ll keep this short on this two day old blog. Today. May 1st, the”live” stream” on your website would only give me a “YOUTUBE ERROR”, message, no video stream. Worked fine on my Smart TV and my best computer directly on BigRigTravels Youtube channel. 24/7 signal was OK. Could be at my end but I watch tons of other stuff on Youtube all day and night every day with no problems, Glad to see you back with almost no coughing and hacking.
