Daily Summary for 5/1/2024

Getting back in the swing of this

Big Rig Steve officially done at 21:00 CDT safely parked at Kuttawa, Kentucky.  Found paid parking for $18/24 hours as we were running out of our 11 hour clock for the day.  BRS was sending out messages to the boss, letting them know we were running late for delivery.  He was turning on snowman cam for 24/7 views.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 10:03 CDT at Gary, Indiana.  BRS advised the truck service was completed yesterday.  4 new batteries and 2 new tires.

We began a trailer hunt rolling on US 41 (a Carlos L favorite).  As the search began at 10:20 CDT BRS learned that his first trip had been removed, but he advised we still can’t move without a trailer, so continued the hunt.  BRS said “that is why I don’t post trips before they happen.”

We rolled through the Chicago Skyway Toll Plaza at 10:24 CDT.

Arrived at a customer near Aurora, IL at 11:40 CDT, searched the lot for the trailer, ended up needing the bosses “ping” to find it.  With the trailer attached at 12:18 CDT, our status changed to “headed to shipper”.

Upon arriving to Manteno, IL at 13:43 CDT, BRS posted on X an archway with the name of the town as he was waiting for a train to cross.

Stream ended as we neared the shipper at 13:49 CDT for the drop and hook with the preloaded trailer.

Stream resumes near Manteno, IL at 14:39 CDT, status changed to “on time to delivery”  (???)

After picking up the trailer, he had managed to complete our mandatory 30 minute break (got that out of the way).

BRS educates us about the Blue Comet’s navigation system NAVIGO as we depart. “You can’t pick this up in stores, it comes with the truck”.

The Blue Comet made a fuel stop at 16:38 CDT at the Love’s near Tuscola, IL.  BRS also grabs two waters, a salad that was on sale and of course, Love’s coffee.

BRS advises at 19:29 CDT, “Welcome to Marion” and then he starts a trivia session.

As the darkness sets in at 20:15, BRS says “Crossing over the Ohio River, welcome to Kentucky”, near Paducah.

Numbers:  146 miles 234 km to receiver.  We covered 513 miles 825 km which also included a trailer hunt and the drop and hook at the shipper rolling through Illinois and into Kentucky.

Clocks: 0:33 hours on 11 hr,  1:46 hours on 14 hr,  51:58 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.

Possible alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow, with plans to start inspection around 7:15 CDT, and drive before 8:00 CDT, and we won’t make our 8 am delivery, but will try to make it by 11:00 CDT which would be 3 hours late, but that will be sorted out tomorrow.   Choose the BRT YouTube channel alarm bell to receive notifications for the start of our broadcast.
