Just a short drive from our home base in Georgetown, we spent the day wandering through winding paths, beautifully landscaped gardens, impressive sculptures, and peaceful woodlands. It quickly became obvious why so many people consider Allerton Park one of Illinois’ premier outdoor destinations.
A Park Unlike Any Other
Originally the private estate of artist and philanthropist Robert Allerton, the park now welcomes visitors to explore over 1,500 acres of natural beauty.
Instead of simply hiking through the woods, every turn offers something new to discover:

Hey Steve. Never been to Allerton Park let alone Illinois lol. There’s a park in PA that’s even larger I believe, called Longwood Gardens. It’s about 30 miles outside of Philadelphia and is quite spectacular. If you’re in that area I’d recommend it. It sounds similar to Allerton but with even more attractions.
