Just when we thought the excitement was winding down, one last surprise was waiting for us.
As we got close to Williams, our train was suddenly surrounded by horseback riders.
Yep… we got robbed!
Well, kind of.
In true Grand Canyon Railway fashion, a gang of Wild West “hoodlums” staged a train robbery, keeping passengers entertained with plenty of laughs and classic Old West antics. It was the perfect ending to a day that had already included amazing scenery, live music, storm clouds, lightning, a brush fire delay, and a visit to one of the most incredible places on earth.
From the musicians at the depot to the dome car views, from the dramatic weather to the Wild West robbery, the Grand Canyon Railway delivered a lot more than just a ride. It turned into an unforgettable adventure and a reminder that sometimes the journey ends up being the best part of the story.
As always, thanks for following along with BigRigTravels.
Until next time…
Keep exploring the backroads, small towns, and live adventures that make America so special.

Can’t wait to see the video. Glad you are having fun
In 2015, our first trip to the Grand Canyon we drove our vehicle. Then our next trip to the Canyon we took the train. We had a fun ride to and from. One way we had the Dome top, picture, refreshments and a chance for them to take our picture. LOL, Ray and I did even break their camera! The other way there was a robbery, Ray even played along with the actors, and then Ray had a Service Dog snoozing on his foot. I am so glad Steve, and family had this great adventure. It is a cherished treasure for your scrapbook!
