Easy Day

Afternoon to all the Road Crew! We arrived at our shipper but our load is not ready yet so we will hangout tonight at the Royal Farms corner store and go pick it up in the morning and start fresh! Boy oh boy, I am ready for food and rest! The last few days off have been fun but very busy! Sometimes I think I work my body more on my time off than when I actually work! So, what did I do? Where did I go? Sunday night I went to Gettysburg and found a nice little mom and pop motel for just $45/night. Monday, I went to the Smithsonian Institution – the “overflow” museum that is actually in Virginia, but not far from Washington DC. That was called the Steven Udvar-Hazy Center. That took all day long since there was so much to see including the Space Shuttle Discovery and the SR-71. I then took a walk around at night around the Washington Mall. I saw the back of the White House, numerous huge buildings, the Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and lots of other things in the area. It was dark, very windy, and COLD!!! Tuesday, I ventured out to the Air and Space Museum on the mall and had to walk numerous blocks taking photos along the way. Tons of things to see and do there such as the Wright Flyer, Spirit of St Louis, moon rocks and Apollo 11. Wednesday, I took a two hour bus ride through the Gettysburg Battlefield. I really did not take many photos because it took all I had to not fall out of the bus seat I was so sore….not to mention the wind and cold temperatures and too many clouds! Thursday, I visited the home of the Star Spangled Banner – Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. After that, I took the ferry from Lewes, MD to Cape May, New Jersey! Then, the long drive through the night back to Jonestown where the truck was parked. You can see the four galleries I have already uploaded HERE, more to come later. I am taking the rest of the day off and we will roll on out tomorrow!
