Elliston, VA-Bluefield, VA-Greenville, VA
Big Rig Travels Monday began at 6:58 am EDT near Elliston, VA. It was 56 degrees with the sun rising. “Let’s go!” Then, a BRT song to start our day.
Onto I-81 then US 460 at 7:20 am.
We have some slow downs with “big, steep hills” at 7:32 am near Blacksburg, VA.
“Welcome to the Narrows, settled in 1778” at 8:01 am.
“Welcome to West Virginia” at 8:13 am near Princeton.
We come up on an accident, a couple of cars, “Not a good way to start your Monday” at 8:33 am near Princeton, WV.
Welcome to Bluefield, WV, settled in 1889” at 8:43 am. Steve drove through narrow streets with several difficult obstacles to maneuver the truck around while driving through the town.
No right turn signs at each intersection, so Zelda was left trying to find a new route. We pull over and Steve ends recording at 9:06 am.
Recording resumes at 1:11 pm near Falls Mills, VA. It was 71 degrees and sunny. He was parked at the customer and just done unloading. “That ain’t terrible.” He was leaving receiver at 1:17 pm. “Definitely a trip to remember.” “Beautiful drive, now going through this cubby hole. Look at this blind curve” at 1:22 pm.
Welcome back to West Virginia at Bluefield at 1:30 pm. Steve advises that preloaded trailer is ready whenever we get there as we head towards Stuarts Draft, VA.
Welcome back to Virginia near Rocky Gap at 1:42 pm.
Love’s stop at 1:51 pm near Bashan, VA for coffee. Steve reports he needs a trailer washout. He backs out of the fuel island so he can get going again.
Weigh mass station at 2:15 pm near Bland, VA. Received a green light, and back on the road.
“Good line” at the Blue Beacon at Max Meadows, VA at 2:38 pm. Steve plays his new songs as we wait. Leaving the wash at 3:38 pm and back onto I-81.
Slow down near Salem, VA at 4:30 pm.
End of day: Greenville, VA Love’s. A free parking spot presented itself to us as we rolled in at 5:50 pm. We have 7 miles to the shipper and will head out in the morning to pick up the preload. We also need to top off the refer tank before we go.

Numbers: 7 miles to shipper. We 268 covered miles rolling
Clocks: 5:08 hours on 11 hr, 5:08 hours on 14 hr, 50:53 hours on 70 hr. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
