Big Rig Steve ended the day safely parked in Gas City, IN at 16:35 EST the clock was stopped. Delivery is tomorrow morning at 5:00 EST -no broadcast until after delivery completed.
BRS started the broadcast 6:39 EST at Hazleton, PA with a song about bones. Great sunrise views as we traveled on back roads while Steve sang to us on way to I-81 and then Drums ,PA onto I-80 where we started rolling west. Steve discussed Hot Wheels cars from back in the day. Yes, it was no longer 70 degrees in PA. BRS commented temps had dropped to 46 degrees.
At Bloomsbury, PA 7:15 EST a story on taking photographs could be heard as we passed the Love’s. The picture of the day was discussed while ongoing BRT YT chat about Susquehanna river was being discussed going back to Pangaea times. Just shortly afterwards BRS requested audio play intro, play middle, yes the BRT sounders.
The BRT RC YT chat was busy anticipating when coffee stop would occur.
Danville, PA 7:31 a story broke out by BRS after seeing a road side motel. He told a story about the time that he came across an old motel building that had been purposely imploded. A huge sign made on a sheet of plywood beside the rubble read, ”We got the Spider”. Then a story about a hotel truck stop property (lone pine teaky something) that BRS had come across long before BRT was started early in Steve’s driving career, that he noticed no one was stopping to patronize.
At 8:42 we rolled near Snow Shoe, PA, yes, no snow any where to be seen. BRT RC member Mark Verstappen posted in chat that anyone wanting to see snow could come to his home and that he has a shovel to use.
Clearfield, PA we went past the Sapp Bros truck stop at 9:07 EST (yes the chain with the coffee percolator signs). Steve went on past and told a story about the time that weather was bad and big rigs were exiting of I-80 trying to get up the hill to the truck stop and bulldozer was having to help push the big rigs up to the Sapp Bros. Steve also then reminisced about all the lost U Stream videos that he had created.
Penfield PA 9:16 CST we rolled over the noted spot of the highest point of I-80 east of the Mississippi River 2,250’. Yes we had reached the highest elevation for the rest of this trip.
Near Brookville, Pa we finally stopped. Love’s up on the top of another hill was waiting with fresh coffee for BRS at 9:43 EST where Steve also purchased jug of washer fluid that Steve advised was $5.29 per gallon. Being that 20 minutes had past by taking care of business, Steve checked in with the crew as how much time is left to complete a 30 minute break. Steve parked and completed one of his favorite joys that he is required to complete before 8 hours have lapsed. As we rolled again a song broke out about yellow.
Ohio sign welcomed us at 11:34 EST as we worked our way closer to delivery. Wet weather appeared as we approached Akron Ohio 12:33 EST.
Yay it works again! Yes 12:44 EST near Wadsworth OH the green light illuminated and toned from our Pre Pass mass/weigh station bypass unit. Yes we are back in business by passing the mass stations.
13:01 BRS advised we have two trips lined up after this one as we rolled on I-71 near West Salem Ohio. We will be finally escaping the Indiana-Ohio area we had started out in most of the second season of 2023.
Mansfield, OH, the home of weather watcher and BRT RC member Ryan Earles as BRS at 13:25 EST had a shout out to Ryan as the RC waved out the window we rolled on US 30 which was noted by BRT RC member Carlos the original and only US route that rolls from coast to coast across the United States of America. Update as noted by Carlos other sources also provide the same evidence.
Williamstown, OH at 14:28 EST was the location that any of the BRT RC that were napping while listening to the soothing sounds of the Blue Comet Cascadia Freightliner purring along were suddenly awakened to BRS loudly trying to wake us all up. Yes, BRS said “If I can’t sleep nobody is going to”. Steve had also stated this same comment earlier in the morning in PA.
Numbers for today: 2 miles 3 km to receiver for delivery. Alarm clock tonight set to wake up at 3:30 am show up at receiver 4:00 am and hope for a quick unload like last time. We traveled 591 miles 951 km through Pennsylvania, across Ohio into Indiana. A full day, Steve felt we did pretty good. Clocks :56 minutes on the 11 hour, 2:43 hours on the 14 hour, 42:06 hours on the 70 hour. Eight day running total 1,811 miles 2,914 km
Two more trips are waiting for us so that is good. Droopy and damp, so BRS is going to dig into Lorna’s Freezer for some chicken and then to bed. Next trip is not going to be posted until we are at the receiver tomorrow. We will deal with tomorrow, tomorrow.
