Daily Summary for 12/8/2025
Belvidere, IL to Gary, IN
Big Rig Travels day began at 4:02 pm CDT, starting in Belvidere, IL BRT HQ. It is 17 degrees and partly cloudy, we are starting our trip to Gary, IN after time off home. We are Bobtail Bob heading to pick up a preloaded trailer at the yard, delivery is at 4:30 am in Sterling, IL.
Stopped at our usual spot at 4:04 pm at the Speedway in Belvidere. Steve advised it had been a scramble to get out of the house, he wasn’t supposed to start until tomorrow, but was begged to take this trip and two other trailer, non-revenue moves which will result in us landing a 3000 mile trip to areas we hadn’t been to since 2021. It is up to us road crew to figure out where that may be.
Stopped at the Love’s near Hampshire, IL at 4:29 pm for fuel for the Blue Comet. We have 438 gallons to gold.
Broadcast ends as we near the yard in Gary, IN. It was 18 degrees and dark at 6:47 pm.
After arriving at the yard, Steve posted on Mastadon, “Well so much for running hard out of the house. Our loaded trailer has a problem, its not road worthy at all, so we will not be leaving the terminal, will not make our 4:30 am delivery. Have notified emergency repair and all the bosses.”

Great to see Steve has a nice long haul after not having anything for a while.
On the main trip page I read this… “Start from Rochelle, Illinois.
Drop empty trailer in DeKalb, Illinois.
Pick up loaed trailer in Gary, Indiana.
Deliver in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Then a 3,000+ mile trip through states which we haven’t visited for a long time, with three separate deliveries.”
In the third line I am wanting to know what is a loaed trailer?
I think that would be a typo, how about “loaded” like a pre-loaded trailer.
Should have been proofread. Weird that that spelling mistake wasn’t corrected yet.
