Daily Summary for 12/11/2025

Village of Somers, WI-Cudahy, WI-Worthington, MN

Big Rig Travels day began at 5:55 am CST.  It is 17 degrees and dark at the Kwik Trip near Village of Somers, WI.  We are continuing our trip to the shipper near Cudahy, WI.

Stop at the Blue Beacon for trailer washout near Caledonia, WI at 6:16 am.

At 6:21:30 a Ric-Rac shout out.

Arrive at the shipper at 7:07 am near Cudahy, WI and stream ends. 
New stream begins at 9:40 am following a live load near Milwaukee.  “Green light, our 3000 mile trip has begun.”  “We are heavy.”

Kwik Trip stop at 10:28 am near Waukesha, WI for a Cat Scale weigh mass check.  “We’re good, we’re good, we’re marvelous.”  He goes into the store for coffee, 39 cent/pound bananas, chocolate dunker donuts and waffle sausage egg and cheese sandwich.

Love’s stop at 1:03 pm in Oakdale, WI for tractor fuel.  We are now 249 gallons from gold.

Welcome to Minnesota at 2:15 pm near Dresbach.

Passed by the Mankato, MN exit on I-90 at 4:15 pm.

Stream ends unexpectedly at 4:24 pm near Alden, MN, learning later a phone charging issue.

At 4:51 pm, stream resumes with Steve leaving the rest area near Blue Earth, MN.

Stopping at the Kwik Trip near Worthington, MN at 6:10 am.  Steve has to work hard to wiggle into an available stop and in the end was four minutes late starting his mandatory 30 minute break at 6:16 pm.  Stream ends at 6:28 pm.

Numbers:  about 2546 miles to the last receiver and “3.5 days to play catch up”.  We covered 484 miles rolling out of Wisconsin and through most of southern Minnesota as well as one customer and a trailer washout.

Clocks: 4 mins over on the 8 hr, 1:06 hours on 11 hr, 1:06 hours on 14 hr, 39:39 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning. 

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.

  1. At 9:55:05 a rare look at the largest US icebreaker on the Lakes. Coast Guard cutter Mackinac just delivered Christmas trees to Chicago and on way back to its base in Cheboygan, MI. Great shot Steve!

  2. Oh man, I LOVE that I-90 trip. I remember making that trip several times between Massachusetts and Montana in the early 1980’s when I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. And, I taught at U. Montana Missoula, right on I-90 for quite a few years. Wonderful country.
