Daily Summary for 11/29/2025

Pontoon Beach, IL to Greenup, IL

Big Rig Travels day began at 6:12 am.  It was 31 degrees and snowing at the Flying J near Pontoon Beach, IL where he had slept for part of his split clock.  Snow was on the hood of the Blue Comet.  “Its going to be fun.  Outta my way, let’s go.”  We are continuing our trip to Indianapolis, IN.

Story time at 6:35 am near Troy, IL about winter driving.

Love’s stop near Greenville, IL at 7:21 am.  BRS advises that we had 3:35 on our 11 hr clock and 180 miles to go, we had 5:33 on the 70 hr.  BRS needed to clean off the wipers and coffee was acquired.  We were down to 3:23 hr when we left.

Due to snow buildup on the driving lanes, Steve was limited to driving often between 30 and 45 mph, eating up our clock and limiting our progress.

Big Rig Steve officially done at the Love’s near Greenup, IL.  Clock stopped at 9:39 am.  It is 29 degrees and still snowing.  We had missed our delivery this morning already, so made no sense to continue driving in these conditions, as the appointment would need to be rescheduled. Safety first…always. A watch party started after Steve went over the numbers.  It was also learned later that I-70 had closed near Terre Haute, IN due to a pileup.  A good thing we didn’t get into that mess.

Numbers: miles to receiver/shipper.  We covered 117 miles which ate up 3 hrs of our clock.

Clocks: 1:20 hours on 11 hr, 1:20 hours on 14 hr, 3:18 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 9 hours tomorrow morning.

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.
