Forest Park, GA to Brookhaven, MS
Big Rig Travels day began at 1:04 am EDT near Forest Park, GA. It was dark as he was leaving the receiver, starting our deadhead to the shipper near Kennesaw, GA. “Really, really, don’t want to drive” at 1:21 am. Our previous trip was finally completed, “no reason to hold me in the door for 10 hours.”
Near Ellenwood, GA we stopped at the Race Trac in order to top off the refer tank at 1:28 am so we can drop it off at the next shipper with a full tank. We are running about 20 hours behind. We need to do an overnight run.
Arrival at the shipper to check in at the saber gates at 2:46 am. The drop and hook is completed at 3:19 am and we start our trip to Brookhaven, MS.
Stopped at the Pilot near Villarica, GA at 4:31 am to complete the mass-weigh check at the CAT scale. We are 200 pounds over in the back, adjustment is made.
Welcome to Alabama near Edwardsville at 4:13 am CDT (we are now on Central Time and gained an hour).
Stop near Heflin, AL at 4:27 am at the Love’s. We find parking. “OK, now, need to take a little nap, will have the camera going for you.”
At 7:32 am, sound is turned back on. “Ok ready to go?” We roll back on to I-20 west at 7:38 am without coffee.
Love’s stop near Eutaw, AL at 10:15 am, Steve asked how long the stream had been going and decided it was time to start a new one as we had started early in the morning. Stream ends at 10:50 am and new stream starts a minute later.
Welcome to Mississippi at 11:37 am near Toomsuba.
We exit I-20 onto I-55 south, near Jackson, MS at 1:23 pm.
Arrival at the receiver near Brookhaven, MS at 2:19 pm to check in. We were several hours early for delivery. We needed to find an empty trailer in order to drop, and all the available trailers were still loaded. So it was decided to leave the receiver at 2:30 pm, find parking until we can get an authorization to deliver. There was no staff on hand to complete a live unload.
Big Rig Steve officially done at the Shell truck stop at 2:41 pm in Brookhaven, MS.
Numbers: (parked close by) miles to receiver. We covered 449 miles rolling out of Georgia, through Alabama and into Mississippi. We reached DIAMOND status for Love’s in September.
Clocks: 0:56 hours on 11 hr, 2:10 hours on 14 hr, 31:14 hours on 70 hr. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.
