VillageOfSomers, WI - Lomira, WI
Big Rig Travels Tuesday began at 4:53 pm. It is 78 degrees and mostly cloudy at the Kwik Trip truck stop near the Village of Somers, WI. First recording was 1 hr, second recording was 2 hrs. “Ready to go?”
We head out on I-94 north, continuing our trip to Oconomowoc, WI.
As we near arrival at the receiver, Steve points out that we are going to a grocery warehouse. Not his ideal situation. Delivery is not until 8:00 pm. Recording ends at 6:00 pm.
Second recording starts at 11:11 pm. It was 70 degrees and dark, leaving the receiver. Back roads in the dark, deadheading to our next shipper near Little Chute (Appleton), WI. Steve states the road behind him, as he looked through the mirror, was all lit up by the moon.
Steve commented on allergies earlier in the recording, but was still able the smell “family of skunks” at 11:53 pm.
Pulls to the side of the road at 11:55 pm to check on the road closed sign and how to avoid. We wend up looping around.
Shipper is still over 80 miles away at 12:30 am, we will not make that tonight.
Stops at a Citgo near Herman, WI at 12:32 am, paused to look for options to stop for the night, continued back on the road. Pulled through a rest area, but couldn’t find any spots at 12:55 am.
Next station was closed, but just needed a place to park and found a spot at 1:02 am. One more hour to the shipper.
