Village of Somers, WI to West Unity, OH

Big Rig Travels Thursday began at 7:49 am CDT.  It was 65 degrees and partly cloudy.  1st recording is 1:30 hrs, 2nd is 6:23 hrs.  Kwik Trip truck stop near the Village of Somers, WI.  “Live 11:00 am loading, but first we need to get the trailer washed out.”  

Arrival at the Blue Beacon at 8:08 am for washout near Caledonia, WI.  Washout complete at 8:16 am. “OK, let’s turn the refer on…Alright 78 degrees right now in the trailer, needs to be at -10, we have 33 miles to go.”

Arrival at shipper near the city of Pewaukee, WI to check in at 8:56 am.  9:06 am BRS returns from check in, “ok just what I thought, we are in the right place, but not really, this is the dry side, we need to go to the frozen side so, OK.”  We wiggle our way out to move the Blue Comet to the other side of the shipper.  Recording ends at 9:13 am.

Resumes at 11:06 am, 70 degrees and partly cloudy.  Steve is searching for glasses and returns to the office to check there as we have completed our live loading.  “Alright, lets go, lights on.”  Status changed to “on time to delivery” starting our trip to Napoleon, OH.  334 miles to go to delivery which is at 7:30 am tomorrow.

Steve starts story time at 11:44 am about big rigs running the weigh mass stations. 

“Ok, welcome to Illinois again” at 12:03 pm.  

We stop for coffee at Love’s at 12:07 pm near Wadsworth, IL.

I-294, traffic slowdown at 1:17 pm near Western Springs, IL.

Welcome to Indiana at 2:25 pm on I-80 near Munster.

I-80/I-90 Indiana Toll Road near Lake Station at 2:48 pm.

Down to two lanes due to road work near Howe, IN at 5:30 pm EDT.

Exiting the toll plaza, “they are just making a big mess everywhere” near Angola, IN.

Welcome to Ohio near Northwest Township at 6:04 pm

We stop near West Unity, OH at the OH turnpike I-80 I-90 service plaza at 6:25 pm.  An alarm was heard in the Blue Comet, “Ok, so that was the trailer alarm.  Let’s go check what the trailer temp says.”  After Steve returned, “OK, its still good.  It went through a defrost cycle.”

Numbers:  29 miles to receiver, live unload at 7:30 am.  We covered 355 miles rolling out of Wisconsin, through Illinois and Indiana and into Ohio.

Clocks: 3:46 hours on 11 hr,  3:46 hours on 14 hr,  9:33 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 8:33 hours tomorrow morning.
