Daily Summary for 5/21/2025

Beckly, WV to Edwardsville, IL

Big Rig Travels Wednesday began at 7:13 am.  It is 59 degrees and mostly cloudy.  Leaving the travel plaza near Beckley, WV and continuing our trip to Edwardsville, IL.  First recording 7+ hrs, second recording 4+ hrs.

“Good morning everybody” BRS advised a meet up with Greg Treadway (Aka Weirdo in the Ditch) occurred last evening.  He noted that Greg had been waiting in the ditch, and we didn’t show up, we had stopped short.  Steve then proceeds to review the coffee purchase from the plaza.

Blue Comet is passing the spot in the ditch at 7:25 am EDT where Greg is normally waving to us on the right.

A short time later, “Alright, get your quarters out” as we approach the toll plaza near Scarbo, WV.

At 9:46 am, “Welcome to Kentucky” near Catlettsburg.

Weigh station is open near Morehead, KY at 10:28 am.  No bypass, but no issues.

Love’s stop near Waddy, KY for coffee at 12:13 pm.  We needed to back out of the fuel island as the pump was not working and the Heartland Express semi was preventing us from proceeding.  We then wiggled our way around to a working fuel pump.  Afterwards, we needed to wiggle out and around another driver that was eating lunch.

We crossed over the Ohio River, “Welcome to Indiana” at 1:16 pm near New Albany.

I-64 rest area stop at 2:22 pm near Dale, IN to complete our mandatory 30 minute break.  Recording ends.

Recording resumes and a short time later enter Central Time Zone, it is now 2:01 pm.

“Ok, welcome to Illinois, we just crossed over the Wabash River” at 2:52 pm.

Love’s stop near Newbaden, IL to top off the refer tank.

As we near the receiver, Steve advised that we would drop the trailer, then bobtail to the Flying J as we were about out of hours and that we had covered 576 miles.  We would be dropping the trailer ON TIME even though we had a 8 hour delay yesterday with the reworking of the load.  Thankfully only a short line to check in. Recording ends at 5:59 pm

Steve later noted on Mastadon that we were down to 0:23 hrs left on the 11 hour clock.

Numbers:  0 miles to receiver/shipper.  We covered 576 miles rolling out of West Virginia, through Kentucky and Indiana and into Illinois.
