Daily Summary for 4/28/2025

McDonough, GA-Kennesaw, GA-Birmingham, AL

Big Rig Travels Monday began at 11:20 am EDT.  It was 67 degrees and mostly cloudy near McDonough, GA.

In line in the Blue Beacon trailer washout near Atlanta, GA at 12:13 pm.  

Then, onto the I-285 Atlanta Bypass at 12:26 pm.  Then, I-75 at 12:57 pm. “Lot of traffic, everywhere, everywhere, everywhere, traffic traffic everywhere.”

Arrival at the shipper near Kennesaw, GA at 1:28 pm.  BRS notices a new guard shack as he drives in.  “I like this place, always ready when we show up.”  We complete the drop and hook and are leaving the shipper at 1:58 pm.  Status changed to “on time to delivery” as we start our trip to Brookhaven, MS.  

Now time to go check how heavy we are.  Onto I-20 to the Cat Scale near Villa Rica, GA at the Pilot.  “Glad we checked, we are 1000 over.”  Re-weigh ($5 now for a reweigh), “processing, processing…ok we moved it a little too much, but we are legal, that’s all that matters.”

Weigh mass station at 3:41 pm near Bremen, GA.  No bypass, but no green or red arrows either.  “I say we are good.”

Love’s stop at Waco, GA for coffee at 3:50 pm.

Welcome to Alabama at 3:13 pm CDT, gaining an hour entering into central time zone, near Waco.

Driving into Birmingham around 4:30 pm and then to the TA for overnight parking.  Big Rig Steve officially done at 4:46 pm CDT.

Numbers:  258 miles to receiver.  We rolled out of Georgia and into Alabama.

Clocks: 1:21 before needing a 30 minute break, 4:21 hours on 11 hr,  5:53 hours on 14 hr,  19:16 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.   Tomorrow delivery with 4 hours left to drive and no next trip yet.
