Big Rig Steve safely parked and officially done for the day in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Stopped the clock at 18:31 CST. Steve greeted BRT road crew members that were on the YouTube chat and answered the typical questions of the day. The 126ers BRT closing theme song played at 18:46 CST for the end of another broadcast day.
Today’s title: Truck driving plans can always change in a split second.
Big Rig Travels Freaky Friday broadcast started the broadcast day 7:30 MST at the Loves in Burlington, CO. BRS observed the damaged truck that had hit the concrete retaining barrier last night at the end of the stream. Yes, broken headlight glass on the ground. What a mess. We entered the fuel island to get fresh coffee. BRT Road crew member Casey Mallory had posted his guess on the BRT YouTube chat that Tulsa, OK would be the stopping point for today: our prognosticator was correct.
Big Rig Steve at 7:50 MST talked about his new creation that he had worked on last night. Unfortunately, he did not know how to share with us. Most of the road crew were unsure what we were even talking about. Rac and I had noticed early in the morning that Steve had presented us with a new format, a video that reads the daily summary with dramatic music in the background. Nicely done by the boss Big Rig Steve.
Big Rig Steve noted at 7:59 MST the wind was pushing the Blue Comet sideways and 8:00 MST in Kanorado, KS we crossed over Kansas State line.
Big Rig Steve at 8:09 MST discussed issue with unblocking someone in chat. He asked if anyone knew how to correct those issues to post it in the YouTube chat conversation. BRT Road crew member WTrdwd (aka Water Dude) posted: go to your icon on the top right, click “manage your account”, then choose “people and sharing”, then block, then unblock.
Edson, Kansas, we crossed back into central time zone 8:25 MST became 9:25 CST.
At 10:56 CST Big Rig Steve advised that Wakeeney, Kansas would’ve been the exit off of I -70 for us to go south to Dodge City, KS normally for that shipper.
We stopped in Ellis, KS at the Loves for fuel and fresh coffee at 11:14 CST. Steve announced that we had resolved the Nightbot issue that he had been working on all week. As we left, Big Rig Steve noted we forgot to get our free Oreos.
12:05 CST as we passed through Hays, KS, Steve pointed out Jemima Frog’s tornado proof, Cheeto storage shelter, otherwise known as the Sternberg museum.
12:17 CST a white car passed Big Rig Steve and the Blue Comet and then made a quick stop on the shoulder. BRS said “what are you doing”!
New Video Experiment on the Daily Summary was discussed at 12:20 CST. John259 compiled a poll on whether or not it was visible to the road crew.
We exited off I-70 at 13:29 CST in Salina, KS onto I-135 south towards Wichita. At 14:50 CST we passed the welcome to Wichita, Kansas sign. A few minutes later law-enforcement raced by and merged into traffic: an accident on the right side. It just after an overpass and all the traffic slowed down to take a look, at which Big Rig Steve’s amazement as to why they were all slowing down so much. BRS said that they are going to cause additional accidents.
We cross the Arkansas River at 15:00 CST, shortly afterwards we approached the toll plaza that used to be a cash only toll road that let us onto I-35 south.
As we rolled through Belle Plaine, KS, Big Rig Steve explained that we must stay tuned for the next trip as it was a place we had not been to in five years and we would have a full weekend upcoming Saturday and Sunday.

Welcome to Oklahoma sign greeted us at 15:43 CST.
At 15:50 CST we heard that tone of an incoming email. We had lost our next trip that would’ve taken us on I-10 across the Florida panhandle along the coast and into Mobile, Alabama. Yes, it has been five years since Steve had been to that receiver.
We rolled into the Pilot in Tonkawa, OK to take our 30 minute break at 16:04 CST. Steve was still a little disheartened to have lost that trip. He emailed the bosses to find out what it happened. Not having a delivery appointment for this load might’ve had something to do with that.
As we continued on down the road, Steve notice just before the next exit that there was the Loves, Dag nab it, Steve had already bought himself coffee at the Pilot. BRS said “so sorry Loves.”
We exited off I-35 at Perry, OK to go eastbound on Hwy 412 towards Tulsa at 17:01 CST.
We were passed by a big rig at 17:34 CST that was headed to BRT road crew member All things harbor secret warehouse. Yes, it was a trailer load of bacon! BRTYT chat was all posting bacon!
Numbers for today: 875 miles 1,408 km to go to delivery. We covered 531 miles 854 km today rolling out of Colorado through Kansas, and into Oklahoma. Clocks: 2:12 on the 11 hour, 3:14 on the 14 hour, 10:35 on the 70 hour. We gain back 8:29 hours tomorrow morning. Eight days running total 2243 miles 3609 km.
