Daily Summary for 11/25/2024

Heading home for THanksgiving

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 5:37 am EST at the Love’s near Perrysburg, Ohio.  It was 44 degrees and dark.  He headed next door to the Blue Beacon for a trailer washout.  There was one ahead of us, inside, already. Washout completed by 6:05 am.  Now he headed to shipper.

Arrival at shipper at 6:28 am for a live load.  Status changed to “On time to delivery” as we leave the shipper at 7:43 am.

Exit I-80, Ohio Turnpike at 8:56 am to stop for coffee at the Love’s near Eldon, OH.

“Welcome to Indiana, can you tell we are back in Indiana?” at 9:14 am after the Blue Comet is bouncing on the rough roads near Angola.

Now entering Central Time Zone at 9:40 am CST near New Carlisle, IN.

Welcome to Illinois at 10:42 am near Lansing, IL.

Arrival at the receiver near Romeoville, IL at 11:26 am.  BRS says “I don’t think they are going to take us early, judging by all the trucks here.  Been years since I’ve been here.”  He also noted he had disliked this place.  CHecked in at 11:31 am.  Discovers we need to go to the other side of the building, so we leave the chaos of this side and get to the organized, calm side.  He was backed into a door at 11:59 am.  “Unloaded early, how cool is that?”  Another trip safely completed at 12:48 pm, 3 hours+ early.

Started our trip to BRT headquarters for off time.  Stopped at the Speedway near Bolingbrook, IL for coffee and tacos at 12:56 pm.  He gets stuck behind a bobtail apparently taking his 30 minute break.

Safety parked at BRS HQ at 2:51 pm in Belvidere, IL.  It was 43 degrees and overcast cloudy upon arrival.

Steve advised that we will be off the rest of the week and weekend, until 8:00 am on December 2, 2024.  Turkey was going to be roasted for Thanksgiving as this would be his first Thanksgiving home in some years.
