Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 7:12 am CDT at the Love’s in Oakwood, Illinois.  It was 61 degrees and partly cloudy.  BRS gets fresh coffee prior to us continuing our trip to London, Kentucky.  Steve advises that it was “pretty windy last night.”  He also points out the Love’s tanker truck as we roll out.

Welcome to Indiana at 8:42 am, now in Eastern Time Zone as we near Covington, IN.  Slow down on I-74 a short time later at 8:50 am.

Stopped at the Love’s near Memphis, IN at 11:46 am.

Welcome to Kentucky, crossing the Ohio River toll bridge near Louisville, at 12:14 pm.

Another slow down near Frankfort, KY at 1:09 pm due to a rollover on the right side, a black Jeep.

Arrival near the receiver at London, KY at 2:53 pm, broadcast ends as Steve goes in to complete the drop and hook.

Broadcast resumes at 3:54 pm, leaving the receiver, another trip safely completed.  Rolling out of receiver with an empty trailer, it is raining at 62 degrees.

We exit I-75 to stop at the Love’s near Richmond, KY at 4:57 pm. Steve adds fuel, then its on to backroads as we make our way to Mt Sterling, KY.

Steve finds a spot in Mt Sterling at 6:03 pm to blow out the trailer.

Arrival at the shipper to complete the drop of the empty trailer and hook of our preloaded trailer at 6:20 pm.

We then head to the Pilot, to the Cat Scale to check mass-weight at 7:06 pm.  There is nothing but chaos going on in this truck stop which tests Steve’s patience.  We are legal, but very heavy.

  1. Apparently it is now Flying Hook/Pilot corporate policy to let the drivers do whatever the (beep) they want. That Mt. Sterling Pilot was a mess. For example, there were people parked on the wrong side of the road while entering the truck stop and apparently you can make your own space if you are a trucker.
