Daily Summary for 10/31/2023

Big Rig Steve officially done for the day at 16:52 (all times today are EDT) safely parked near Seagrove, North Carolina to complete ten hour break prior to 6:00 am delivery appointment in Virginia.

Title: Four States today

Big Rig Travels broadcast day started at 8:41 near Jacksonville, Florida. BRS advised that the load ended up being a preload so we swapped the old beat up trailer for a brand spanking new one. On to the Big Road  I-95 northbound.

8:52 first task: Loves ❤️ for Mass/weight check at the Cat Scale. Yes we are legal except we are very close on our tractor drives: 33,960 lbs so can’t add much fuel ⛽️then, fresh coffee. BRS advised that we did not sleep well last night, kept checking clock ⏰ every half hour.

9:24 BRS advised “I bet we get a red light everywhere we go today as we are heavy.“ Florida mass/weight station drive through, no issues.

9:30 Florida agricultural inspection station, even big rig with empty flat bed was having to stop.

9:34 rolling out of Florida as Welcome to Georgia sign greeted us near Kingsland, GA with foggy conditions continuing.

11:09 near Pooler, GA BRS noted about living nearby working for Gulf Stream Air.

11:19 Welcome to South Carolina greeted Blue Comet.

11:39 BRS advised that GPS was showing we were going to run out of time on 70 hour clock before we get to delivery destination today.

12:02 stopped at rest area near Yemassee, SC

13:19 BRS spyed black tire marks near Manning, SC starting on a bridge deck continued up to two pulled over big rigs. Possible object on bridge approach that damaged tires?

14:22 stopped near Latta, SC at Flying J where the Blue Comet key assembly had fallen out of the dashboard. BRS had been able to get key in and started Blue Comet so we left truck running while we fueled as we were on fumes which allowed for mandatory 30 minutes plus break to be completed. BRS would resolve the key issue once we had completed today’s travel. We then continued on to use up remainder of the 70 hour clock.

Numbers:81 mile 130 km to the receiver, we covered 418 miles 673 km rolling out of Florida, thru Georgia, South Carolina and into North Carolina. Our eight day running total ?miles ? km

Clocks:2:53 hours on 11 hr, 3:41 hours on 14 hr, 0:32 minutes on 70 hr, gain back 8:00 plus hours at midnight Pacific time tomorrow morning. We are 197 gallons away from Loves Diamond status for November, we will remain at Platinum status for November.

Yep dreaded alarm clock ⏰again tomorrow morning. Inspection at 3:30 am, projected broadcast starting 4:00 am we should roll into delivery just in time for our appointment.
