Four States-One Day

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:18 am EDT at the Love’s in Covington, Virginia, 58 degrees and hazy.  Continuing our trip to Edwardsville, Illinois.  Steve advised he had woken up early and it was very foggy, so went back to bed.

Welcome to West Virginia at 10:03 am near White Sulphur Springs.

Rest area stop at 10:08 am.  Steve needed to wiggle around poorly parked big rigs.  We stopped in order to send a message.

11:29 am Steve honks Blue Comet’s horn at road crew Greg Treadway, aka “weirdo in the ditch” who was waving the BigRig Steve road crew flag.

Welcome to Charleston, WV at 12:17 pm.  

BRS has to do a brake check at 12:30 pm as an accident had just occurred in front of him.  No issues for us.

Welcome to Kentucky at 1:26 pm near Cattlesburg.  BRS says “Third state of the day.”

Love’s fuel stop at Grayson, KY at 1:47 pm.

I-64 at 2:43 pm, called into the mass weigh station, drove through with no issues near Morehead, KY.

At 3:30 pm, BRS reminisced about the first BRT radio show broadcast which occurred near Winchester, KY as passed through there today.

At 4:57 pm, BRS pointed out the Louisville downtown area.

A slow down on I-64 in Louisville at 5:01 pm prior to crossing the Ohio River.

Welcome to Indiana at 5:21 pm near New Albany, state number four for today

Big Rig Steve officially done at 5:55 pm safely parked at the Love’s near Carefree, IN.  Watch party starts.

 

Numbers:  232 miles to receiver, drop (of our current trailer) and hook (of our next preloaded trailer) whenever we get there.  We covered miles rolling

Clocks: We stopped today with 4 mins left of our 8 hr break clock, 3:04 hours on 11 hr,  5:05 hours on 14 hr,  23:22 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.

  1. The reason the roads are so rough in Indiana is because they are using chunks of recycled broken bricks and cement blocks to patch the potholes.
