Midnight Run to Virginia
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 12:05 am EDT, 50 degrees and dark near Fletcher, North Carolina. Continuing our trip to Elkwood, Virginia. Camera in night mode. BRS advises, “Ready for a midnight run? Let’s go…midnight trucking with Big Rig Steve.”
Stopped at the Love’s near Statesville, NC at 2:20 am for coffee.
Welcome to Virginia on I-74 near Lambsburg at 3:31 am.
BRS “you all ready to go over Fancy Gap?”
Love’s stop near Max Meadows, VA at 4:05 am. Stream ended during the stop but resumed at 4:17 am.
Another Love’s stop at 6:24 am near Greenville, VA for coffee.
Arrival at receiver at 9:10 am via a gravel road that our GPS was not happy about.
BRS advised that we made BRT history with the second lightest load ever, 370 pounds of very delicate lettuce for salads.
Phone overheated during unload at 9:56 am. Steve later described that he had to help the receiver by opening the trailer door, letting him in, closing the door to maintain temperature while they checked temperature monitors of the product. It was the first time he had been asked to put someone inside with the doors latched behind.
Broadcast resumes at 11:13 am. Steve advises that we are finishing our split, so he was going to complete paperwork while we waited for 15 more minutes as delivery was complete.
Rolling out of receiver at 11:30 am, status changed to “headed to the shipper” near Richmond, VA.
Stopped at a small truck stop near Elkwood, VA as Steve wanted to check out their store and get some coffee.
Big Rig Steve broadcast day ends at 1:48 pm as we arrive near the terminal in Richmond, VA where Steve plans to shut down for the day. As there is a preloaded trailer waiting for us, it will be nearby as soon as he is ready to drive again.
Numbers: 0 miles to shipper. No miles discussed today, but RC estimated 584 miles, spending time in North Carolina and Virginia.
