Daily Summary for 3/2/2025

Stuarts Draft, VA to Waddy, KY

Big Rig Travels Sunday began at 9:37 am, it was 27 degrees and sunshine.  BRS was leaving the shipper in Stuarts Draft.  Status was changed to “on time to delivery” as we were starting our trip to Edwardsville, IL.

Love’s stop at Greenville, VA for Cat scale.  We are legal.

“Crossing over the Jackson River” near Selma at 10:56 am.  

Stopped at the Love’s near Covington, VA, fuel for the truck and trailer as well as DEF.  “322 to gold”.  “Alright, let’s go” at 11:32 am.

“Welcome to West Virginia, leaving the George Washington National Forest” at 11:58 am near White Sulphur Springs, WV.  

“7% downgrade for the next four miles, ok buddy, this is like one of two places that I know is 7%” at 12:35 pm near Meadow Bridge, WV.  Elevation of 2620 ft dropping to 1434 ft.

“Welcome to Sandstone Mountain, 2765 feet.”  at 12:53 pm near Bragg, WV.

Big Rig honks the Blue Comet horn at 1:17 pm as we passed Greg Treadway aka Weirdo in the Ditch near Mount Hope, WV.  Steve noted that Greg had just pulled up.

“Alright, welcome to Kentucky” near Catlettsburg, KY at 3:08 pm.

Stopped at 3:57 pm near Morehead, KY rest area for our mandatory 30 minute break.  Break completed at 4:29 pm and back onto I-64. 

End of the day at Flying J near Waddy, KY.  “ok, that’s it for today” at 6:08 pm Delivery is a drop whenever we get to the receiver tomorrow. 

Numbers:  300 miles to receiver.  We covered 423 miles rolling out of Virginia through West Virginia and into Kentucky.

Clocks: 3:08 hours on 11 hr,  4:22 hours on 14 hr,  8:38 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 14 hours tomorrow morning.
