Oak Grove, MO to Liberal, KS
Big Rig Travels Tuesday began at 8:33 am. It is 77 degrees and clear at the Petro near Oak Grove, MO. Two recordings: 3:30 hrs, and 4:45 hrs. We are continuing our trip to Tolleson, AZ. “Let’s go” Steve explains there are several ways we can go, but our fuel stop is at a Love’s on the backroads of Kansas, so that will route us through Kansas and Texas. Steve describes at 8:40 am the experience of staying last night at the Oak Grove I-70 truck stop which leads into further truck stop discussions.
At 8:57 am, “all right, there’s downtown Kansas City” The overpass was framing the image of the downtown, just before we exit off I-70 to go south around downtown.
A slow down at 9:08 am on I-435.
Love’s stop near Ottawa, KS to clear the windshield at 10:07 am. Back onto I-35 at 10:34 am.
Recording ends at 12:04 pm near Cedar Point, KS. Steve later tells us that a cord had apparently gotten unplugged.
Recording resumed at 12:15 pm. It is 88 degrees and clear. We were sitting on the side of US50 near Florence, KS.
“Crossing over the Arkansas River” at 1:14 pm near Hutchinson, KS.
Love’s stop near S. Hutchinson, KS for fuel. Steve noted, “we are way in the boonies.”
Big Rig Steve officially done near Liberal, KS at the Love’s. It was 95 degrees and mostly sunny at 4:54 pm.
Recording ended at 4:57 pm and a LIVE watch party started at 5:25 pm and went on for 5 hours.
Numbers: 882 miles to receiver, delivery on Friday morning. We covered 431 miles rolling in Missouri and Kansas.
Clocks: 3:26 hours on 11 hr, 5:05 hours on 14 hr, 51:12 hours on 70 hr. We stopped within 26 minutes of needing a mandatory 30 minute break. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
