Sunday Song and Wellness Check In

Updating our Health

First, let’s go over what happened…

During our two weeks time off, we were having problems with allergies, general breathing problems, etc. We got “better” then decided to take a trip which we picked up in Wisconsin. It was a nightmare to get accomplished. We gave it our best shot, but there was no way we could continue safely.

We made the command decision to terminate the trip in Gary, Indiana and make arrangements to visit doctors and get our health handled. We made it home to Belvidere Thursday night then went to Urgent Care on Friday morning. They made the decision to send us to the emergency room. Our condition warranted us to be admitted and that’s where we are now.

Second, Let’s Go Over What *I* Know; What *YOU* Don’t; and the Rumors…

Okay, so there is a whole team of doctors, nurses, specialists, and everybody else here in this hospital who knows what they are doing. They have poked me, prodded me, stuck tubes and things all over me. They are twisting veins and pulling things in knots. They are doing what they need to do. They have ruled out a ton of things. They have determined what needs further testing. They are also waiting for some verification test results that are taking a bit longer to get back.

This means that since the doctors who have gone through many, many years of schooling haven’t made a firm determination as of yet, then that means YOU certainly have no right to speculate or start rumors of any kind. Nobody knows at this point what the future holds, but as of now, we do know the following:

I will keep the truck. We are still truck drivers. We are still in charge of BigRigTravels. Keep the rumors out.

Third, Let’s Go Over What We Expect to Happen…

The doctors are expecting the final puzzle piece test result on Monday. We will undergo more testing, and most likely we will be sent home afterwards. A treatment plan would be set up for us along with several follow-up tests that need to be done over the next few weeks. We won’t be able to hit the road for probably a month (just a rough estimate for now) since we have so many follow-ups to handle. The treatments and tests we get will determine when we’d be able to hit the road. At this point, we’re fully expecting to continue everything, but it’ll have a much better, longer, and healthier outcome, which will eventually make life on the road much easier for me.

Finally…

I want to give my sincerest thanks for all of the messages and prayers. I will keep you informed as much as possible. Please respect my privacy, and keep in mind that while having and running a website and trucking around America with a truck full of Road Crew is both awesome and exciting, our health must take precedence. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we obviously can’t do all the other things. Just keep that in mind.

    Anyway I’m you’re getting better.
    Godspeed Big Rig Steve,!!

  4. Naturally we’re all very concerned and wouldn’t expect you to return to what you and the Road Crew love until you are well enough to do so. Seeing all of this beautiful country through your window has been a wonderful blessing and journey. Prayers for a speedy recovery and to many more healthy miles ahead.

  5. The internet is full of nuts & troublemakers. But your real friends & loyal roadcrew will be understanding & rooting & praying for you. God continue to bless you as He has in the past.

  6. “Been there, done that” in what seems to be a very similar fashion, so even outside of my work in a healthcare related field, I have a very good idea of what you are enduring. Hope you can relax and focus on getting well, and keeping sane with the poking and prodding and studying by the medical staff. I hope they let you eat some BACON. Glad to know everyone is talking about maybe a month or so to possibly get back on the road as I’ve been told to stay out from behind the wheel for far longer, and all I drive are personal passenger vehicles. Prayers for you going up every day.

    • Oh My For Petes Sake??? Eat Bacon??? Steves condition only warrants pablum and cream of wheat with his sensitive appetite condition!! Bacon would just set him way way way back!!! ATH need to question your health care qualifications !! LOL

  8. Steve, thanks for the update. Your health takes precedence over everything! We will eagerly await a positive outcome and be patient as you gain more insight and a treatment plan for a good outcome. I will be praying for you in the interim, and most likely be on my road trip to Texas or even back home from it when you return. Your broadcasts reminded me of how much I need a road trip to visit family, I look forward to the open road. All the best Steve and dear Road Crew.

  13. No, I’m not a Doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. If you’re hospital stay is anything like mine, you’re in a good dream and someone shakes you at 05:45 to draw blood. Then you lay there cuz you have an hour to kill before you order breakfast. And on Sunday, the residents take the med students from UVM on rounds so, when they wake you at 06:00, there are 6 people staring at you. Hope you have good cable TV and Wi-Fi at least. The docs will figure it out and get you on your way. Pet therapy goes along way. Get well quickly my friend.

  14. God bless you for everything you do. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  15. Prayers that you get well son and are back home to recuperate with your fur babies soon!

  38. Steve after some deep soul searching am just wondering if problem just might be too much cheetoes bacon hot dogs with onions belvitas bad Pilot coffee and Lorna accidentally contaminated ice cream ==well might tell Doctors to evaluate as possible causes of illness??? Okay all this is just to state my love for you and all Brt crew with a tad bit of humor !!! God Bless!!!!

  39. Hi Steve, May Lord comfort you and bless you with his healing touch for your complete recovery. Amen, God Bless

  40. We continue to pray. I know I had the bad cough about a month ago while the high school was in spring break. I was too macho to go to the doctor (I had a regularly scheduled appointment April 10). By then I was about 95% and he found nothing wrong. In fact, I had lost another 8 pounds without trying and he was happy with my BP of 130/ 83. You certainly did the right thing. Maybe freight will improve upon the break and when you’re able you can get more home things taken care of. We miss you / we love you / and we are going to try and get along without you – on the road that is!

  41. Hi Steve,

I haven’t posted in the chat lately. But I still lurk on your Youtube page.

I noticed that you haven’t been out driving lately. So I wondered what was going on. So I decided to check this website.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with some health issues at this time. So I pray that you get well soon. Whenever your health permits you to drive again, we’ll be here.

  44. Prayers still going up for you Steve!! Hang in there till excellent normal health is restored and will be once again ==Mash-It time will once more be heard world wide on BRT Travels!! P.S. just ignore bacon suggestion made by a well meaning bit sadly de-ranged ATH !!
