Daily Summary for 9/25/2024

Big Rig Steve officially done at 7:44 pm EDT safely parked in a hiding spot near the receiver in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Working our way towards Hurricane Helene

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:52 am parked at the One9 near Elliston, Virginia. Foggy and overcast, 66 degrees, continuing our trip to Kennesaw, GA.

Rolling off of I-81 onto I-77 south, 9:53 am.

Welcome to North Carolina at 10:27 am.

Coffee break at the Love’s near Statesville, NC at 11:24 am.

Exit off of I-77 at 12:26 pm, BRS gives the road crew a short backroad tour of Charlotte, NC.  BRS noted “slight detour, you know nothing, you see nothing.” Eventually we roll back onto I-485.

Welcome to South Carolina at 1:14 pm.

“All righty, welcome to Georgia.” at 2:59 pm.

Love’s stop near Commerce, GA at 3:32 pm.

Heavy rain starts just after Steve gets back in the Blue Comet at 3:42 pm.  We work on completing our 30  minute break while waiting on fuel authorization to top off the refer tank.  Busy at the Love’s, it ends up difficult to get back into the fuel island.  At this point there was 77 miles left to get to delivery.

Heavy rain starts again at 4:50 pm on I-85 which caused delays due to slowed traffic.

Arrival at the receiver at 6:46 pm to complete the drop and hook near Kennesaw, GA.

Numbers:  0 miles to receiver.  We covered 437 miles rolling out of Virginia, through North and South Carolinas and into Georgia which included fog, mountains, rain and heavy traffic.  Yes, BRS noted, that had tired him out.  177 to platinum Love’s status for October.

Clocks: 1:41 hours on 11 hr,  2:13 hours on 14 hr,  33:40 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
