Daily Summary for 6/11/2024
A long day
Big Rig Steve officially done at 23:28 EDT safely parked waiting for entry into receiver gate which opens at 6:00 EDT tomorrow. Appointment is at 9:00 EDT. The Blue Comet is a mess inside due to the rough roads today.
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 11:49 EDT near Columbus, Ohio. He was in a door by 9:00 EDT, 45 minutes to unload, “How cool is that?” Status changed to “Headed to the shipper”. “First things first we need fuel for the truck and the driver” at 12:00 EDT.
Stopped at Love’s near Springfield, OH at 12:35 EDT for fuel for the Blue Comet and coffee for the driver, we are not sure how much “fuel” for the driver.
Arrival at shipper at 14:13 EDT near Trenton, Ohio which BRS points out was established in 1868. A long wait for check in to complete our drop and hook. Steve educates a driver on the process of entry into the shipper.
At 15:49 EDT status changed to “on time to delivery”. Started our trip to Salem, Virginia.
I-71 back on a big road at 16:46 EDT near Lebanon, OH.
Love’s near Bidwell, OH at 18:48 EDT. Waiting to get through the fuel island, BRS found some pretzels. After getting to the fuel pumps, he went into the store for coffee and Reese’s PB cups. Afterwards, ended up backing up out of the fuel island due to a truck blocking our exit, until another truck prevented us from further exiting. Magically the original truck moved so we were able to exit the mess.
Welcome to West Virginia as we crossed the Ohio River at 19:20 EDT near Henderson.
BRS points out that it is the silver bridge that we crossed which was not the original bridge and suggest we research the history of the bridge.
Toll time at 20:33 EDT near Cabin Creek, WV. Toll time again at 21:05 EDT near Pax, WV. BRS says “welcome to BigRIgTravels nighttime edition at 21:21 EDT as the darkness approached near the home of our BRT RC Weirdo in the Ditch Greg Treadway. No sighting today.
Another toll time at 21:33 Ghent, WV. BRS pointed out at 22:09 EDT that we dropped the West, welcome to plain Jane Virginia.
Approaching the receiver near Salem, VA at 23:21 EDT, BRS noted “last time we did this, we missed the little driveway.” We did not miss it this time.
Numbers: 0 miles 0 km to receiver. We covered 484 miles 779 km rolling out of Ohio through West Virginia and into Virginia including a live delivery in the morning and a drop and hook at two customers. We do have a next trip.
Clocks: 1:04 hours on 11 hr, 0:44 hours on 14 hr, 47:00 hours on 70 hr. We were 32 minutes from needing another 30 minute break. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
