Daily Summary for 2/13/2024

Big Rig Steve officially done for the day at 17:33 MST safely parked near Green River, Utah.

Title: In case you missed the last trip through the mountains…

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 10:27 MST started near Golden, Colorado on our way to North Las Vegas, Nevada. 

BRS had started the day at 4:30 MST.  We had to do a trailer washout, went to the shipper, trailer was rejected due to cosmetic issue, had to return across town to the yard, swap trailers, then another washout, finally returning to the shipper to drop trailer and pick up this load. 

This will be a tight trip. Will have another driver waiting for this trailer when we get to destination.

First tunnel of the day at 11:03 MST, I-70 west near Idaho Springs, CO.  First of four tunnels. 

A slow down due to backed up traffic at 11:31 MST as we near the Eisenhower Tunnel.

We reached the Eisenhower Tunnel at 11:51 MST stream held a little longer in tunnel this time.

Rolled through Glenwood Canyon at 13:33 MST.  Amtrak was sighted at 13:37 MST in the canyon.  We also saw the Amtrak that was going the opposite direction today. For the animal lovers, big horned sheep were also spotted a couple times today.

Stopped for Love’s coffee at 14:34 MST near Parachute, CO.  

Steve spotted Lizoid waving at us on the overpass at 15:27 MST near Clifton, CO. 

Love’s in Grand Junction, CO for 60 gallons of fuel at 15:40 MST.  We are now 300 gallons from Gold status.

BRS said good bye to Colorado and Welcome to Utah at 16:24 MST as we approached Cisco, UT.

Numbers:  399 miles 642 km to the drop.  We covered  401 miles 645 km rolling through mountains, trailer swapping and washouts.  BRS said “We did pretty awesome”

Clocks: 0:53 hours on 11 hr,  1:34 hours on 14 hr,  21:00 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 5:10 hours tomorrow morning.
