Working Double Splits
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:19 am EST near Port William, Ohio on the the on-ramp from the truck parking on I-71 where we had spent the overnight. It is 28 degrees and cloudy. We are continuing our trip to Opelika, Alabama. Steve is working another split as he only had completed an 8 hour break, as he did not want to sit here any longer. “Drive some, then take another nap,” as we still owe 2 more hours to the break.
I-71 rest area, we are followed in by the highway patrol near Lebanon, Ohio at 9:42 am for a random DOT inspection which was completed at 10:18 am. Steve said, “Nothing like a DOT inspection, first thing in the morning, even before our coffee.”
Arrived at the Pilot near Lebanon, OH at 10:25 am, Steve opened the Pilot app on his phone and discovered today coffee was free. As we left, Steve advised that he had brought his Santa hat along for the month.
“Downtown Cincinnati” at 11:07 am.
Welcome to Kentucky as crossed over the Ohio River at 11:11 am near Covington.
Stopped at the Love’s near Sadieville, KY at 12:08 pm for fuel for the Blue Comet. Steve scored onions with his hotdogs and coffee.
BRS advised that wind was pushing us around.
Welcome to Tennessee at 2:43 pm as we passed the Welcome Center on I-75 near Jellico, TN. Stopped on I-75 at 3:01 pm near Caryville, TN to fix the camera position, a short time later at 3:13 pm the camera decides it wants to reposition itself again. Steve stops again at 3:22 pm near Rocky Top, TN, “come on, just make it the rest of the day, can we?, can we? It’s getting old.”
(Rinse and repeat) The camera has self repositioned again at 3:25 pm, the view is the leaning Blue Comet once again near Andersonville, TN.
Steve decides to stop near Heiskell, TN at the One 9 Truck Stop at 3:37 pm to “fix the camera once and for all, we are going to take our 2 hour break here.” The camera appears to be in selfie mode at the time as Steve is working on removing the old tape and then reapplying Alien tape to the phone. A watch party starts, along with some audio testing of the new soundboard. We start rolling again at 5:41 pm.
Welcome to Georgia near Ringold at 7:48 pm.

We search for parking in Hogansville, GA Love’s at 10:26 pm, lot was full back onto I-85.
Entered into the mass-weigh station at 10:41 pm near LaGrange, GA, not Steve’s best choice for parking, “but you do what you’ve got to do and check.” No available spots. Steve said, don’t want to park in a “No parking zone” in a weigh station, so we continue to drive.
We check the TA for parking near West Point, GA at 11:07 pm, no parking available.
Steve ends up stopping on the on ramp to I-85 at 11:11 pm for the night. Luckily it has a wide shoulder here.
