Early start for a Saturday drive on I-64

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 4:26 am EST at the I-64 travel plaza near Eskdale, WV.  It is 27 degrees and dark.  

Steve points out downtown Charleston, WV at 4:58 am.  Not a lot of traffic on early Saturday morning.

“All right, against my better judgement, we are going to the Pilot again.”  We roll back into the Pilot in Nitro, WV at 5:18 am.  Today, there is no line of semis in or out today.  Steve goes in to get coffee.  Steve advises, when he gets back in the truck, “wow…a talkative group in there.”  At least four different people tried to strike up conversations with Steve while he was in the store.

Welcome to Kentucky at 6:10 am, crossing over the Big Sandy River near Catlettsburg.

Love’s at Waddy, KY at 8:36 am for a coffee stop.  Stream ends due to the canopy blocking Starlink.  Resumes at 8:47 am with the daytime camera view.

Downtown Louisville, KY at 9:27 am.

Welcome to Indiana as we cross the Ohio River on I-64 at 9:33 am near New Albany.  Back on the rough roads of Indiana.

Story time at 9:34 am near Dale, IN.  “I’ve got a story you all ready for story time?”  

Stream drops again at 10:11 am at the Love’s near Haubstadt, IN.  New stream begins at 10:18 am.  Steve had acquired 60 gallons of fuel for the Blue Comet.  We will end the year at Gold Status for January at Love’s.  There is no way we will be able to reach Platinum.  We also complete our 30 minute break here.

Welcome to Central time zone at 10:41 am EST turns to 9:41 am CST.

Welcome to  Illinois at 11:17 am near Grayville.

New Baden, IL Love’s stop to get fuel for the refer tank. Stream drops again and a new stream starts at 11:33 am.  It takes some time to get authorization for fuel.

Broadcast ends near Edwardsville, IL as we approach the receiver (and our next shipper) at 2:18 pm.  Steve says, “so we will see you tomorrow” as we were short on time, needed to complete the drop of the loaded trailer, and the hook of our next preloaded trailer.  We wouldn’t be going far.  As later reported on Discord, Steve had scaled at the Cat Scale and the next trailer weight is good.

Numbers:  0 miles to receiver/shipper.  We covered 552 miles (as later reported on Discord) rolling out of West Virginia, across Kentucky, in and out of Indiana and the into Illinois. Next delivery is 324 miles away in Elkhorn, WI.

Clocks: as reported on Discord, 0:39 hours on 11 hr,  1:06 hours on 14 hr,  9:04 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 8:02 hours tomorrow morning.
