Daily Summary for 12/13/2024

Second to last trip of 2024

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:02 am at the Love’s in South Hill, Virginia.  It was 32 degrees and sunshine.  In line for fuel at 9:07 am for Blue Comet and the refer tank.  Stream ended at 9:20 am.  Steve was unsure what happened, as the broadcast resumed at 9:38 am.  We are continuing our trip to the shipper near Stuarts Draft, VA.

Story time at 10:34 am about Washington, DC and other travels.

Stop at the Love’s near Zion Crossroads, VA at 11:55 am, parked so we could blow out the trailer.

Arrival at the shipper at 1:09 pm, camera switched to selfie mode where the furry mic can be seen along with the driver so we can complete our drop and hook.

Status changed to “on time to delivery” at 1:45 pm.  We are starting our trip to Edwardsville, IL.

Arrival at the Love’s near Greenville, VA at 2:00 pm for the weigh mass Cat Scale.  We ended up moving the tandems as we were heavy in the back, by 700 pounds.  Fresh coffee was acquired afterwards.

Welcome to West Virginia near White Sulphur Springs at 3:44 pm on I-64.  We will continue on this road for the rest of the day.
As we crossed Sandstone Mountain, we crested at 2, 765 ft of elevation at 4:38 pm near Shady Springs, WV.  Near Beckley, WV at 5:02 pm, Steve honked the Blue Comet horn three times at the “two weirdos in the ditch.”  It was BRT road crew, Greg Treadway and his nephew Andy, holding the BRT flag which enticed Steve to remind viewers they could own their own flag by going to the BRT store.

Steve announced at 5:13 pm we had one hour left on our clock remaining before needing to take our mandatory 30 minute break.

At 5:16 pm on I-64, we experienced our second slow down (in short order) near Scarbro, WV.

Steve finds a safe parking spot near Eskdale, WV at the Maton Turnpike travel stop at 5:37 pm to end the day and save our 30 minute break from depleting our clock.

Numbers:  538 miles to receiver.  We covered 375 miles including a drop and hook rolling out of Virginia and into West Virginia.

Clocks: 3:32 hours on 11 hr,  4:48 hours on 14 hr,  13:37 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 7:46 hours tomorrow morning.

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow, delivery is tomorrow, drop whenever we get there.  Next trip picks up at the same location and will be our final trip of 2024.   Choose the BRT YouTube channel alarm bell to receive notifications for the start of our broadcast.
