Daily Summary for 11/8/2024
The case of the missing trailer
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:46 am CST in Memphis, Tennessee. It was 59 and overcast. We are Bobtail Bob headed to pick up a trailer near Brookhaven, Mississippi. Steve explains what had been completed on the Blue Comet while we were at the shop. Both front steer tires and brakes replaced and the inspection came up with a bunch of other little stuff that didn’t end up needing to be done.
Stop at the Love’s near Batesville, MS for fuel for the Blue Comet at 10:46 am.
Arrival at the customer lot to pick up the empty trailer at 3:00 pm. At 3:20 pm, after Steve was not able to find the trailer, he had the bosses send a “ping” to the trailer to help locate it. The GPS image that Steve received showed that the trailer was actually currently at the yard back in Memphis where he had just come from.
Steve heads to the nearest truck stop at 3:35 pm to wait for further instructions.
Plan is determined that we can now grab any empty trailer to bring back to Memphis as they needed trailers and this customer had plenty. We arrive back at the customer at 4:10 pm to grab a trailer. The trailer that we grabbed does have an issue as the refer tank is completely empty and also should have had a washout before being left here.
Status changed to “on time to delivery” at 4:26 pm. Steve finds his nighttime glasses as he described it was dark and gloomy.
Back onto I-55 at 4:36 pm.
Stopped at the Love’s near Pearl, MS at 5:30 pm, 74 and cloudy.
Numbers: 204 miles to the yard. We covered 328 miles rolling in Tennessee and Mississippi. 137 gallons to gold.
Clocks: 4:40 hours on 11 hr, 5:10 hours on 14 hr, 57:16 hours on 70 hr. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
