Daily Summary for 11/14/2024 to 11/15/2024
It’s another overnight run
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:29 pm EST (11/14), 53 degrees and cloudy. Nighttime camera mode leaving Forest Park, Georgia and on our way to the shipper near Kennesaw, GA for an overnight trip delivering to Janesville, South Carolina.
Stopped at the Race Trac nearby in Ellenwood, GA at 9:38 pm for fresh coffee.
Arrived at the Blue Beacon for a trailer washout near Atlanta, GA at 10:19 pm, no line at the washout.
Checked in at the shipper at 11:13 pm, where the famous light saber gate opened up for us.
Drop completed at 11:29 pm, preloaded trailer hook completed at 11:44 pm with status changed to “on time to delivery.”
BRS requested a “ding” at 11:45 pm, it comes through to let him know he’s still broadcasting. Steve also advised it feels damp and cold, 52 and foggy.
Near Commerce, GA we stop at the Love’s at 1:25 am (11/15) for fuel for the Blue Comet and fuel for the driver; fresh coffee.
Pulled into the weigh mass station that was closed at 2:14 am near Lavonia, GA. Steve finds parking after cruising around the lot and finding a spot beyond the scales so that we could escape without going through again.
Steve advised we had 98 miles to go which is approximately a 2 hour drive to our 8:00 am appointment, so we can take a 3 hour nap here as we cannot arrive early at the receiver. We are starting a split as our next load is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Audio is muted and a watch party begins.
Trip resumes at 5:25 am, 48 degrees and still foggy. Steve points out the downtown of Spartanburg, SC as we drive through at 6:50 am.
Broadcast ends as we arrive at receiver at 7:20 am near Jonesville, SC. At this point there is 0 miles to go, BRS said he had covered 245 miles at this point.
Broadcast resumes after unloading at the receiver at 10:22 am, status changed to “heading to shipper”.
First stop is at a Pilot for fresh coffee as there was a long line upon checking out, Steve advised there was only one cashier, “what are you going to do?” From that line to another line, a long line at the Blue Beacon at 11:31 am directly across from the Pilot for a trailer washout. Steve answers the usual questions while we are in line.
Arrival at the shipper at 12:44 pm, instructed we needed to wait for a door to open up as we were early for a 4:15 pm appointment time, a watch party start while Steve lays down to take a nap.
We are backed into a dock door at 5:03 pm, loading is completed at 5:20 pm. Status changed to “on time to delivery.” Starting trip to Oswego, Illinois at 5:30 pm. We are using personal conveyance as our 14 hour clock had run out at the shipper.
We make it to Duncan, SC to search for parking at 5:39 pm. Found safe parking at a TA at 5:55 pm which ends up being paid parking. No choice, we were out of hours.
Numbers: We have 850 miles to go to receiver. We have two days to complete the delivery which is Monday morning, a live unload. We covered 130 miles. Our daily summary started on 11/14 in the late evening traveling through Georgia and ended on 11/15 in the early evening in South Carolina.
