Daily Summary for 1/8/2025

A Snowy Day

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 4:49 am EST at the Flying J near Hubbard, Ohio.  Snowy and 22 degrees.  We are continuing our trip to the shipper near Pittsburgh, PA.

Arrival at shipper at 6:30 am EST, dock door at 7:23 am, loading completed at 10:10 am and status changed to “on time to delivery”.  We are heading to the receiver in Edwardsville, IL.

Steve points out “screen shot time”  at 10:25 am on I-279 near downtown Pittsburgh.  Stream ends at 10:27 am as we are crossing the river. 

Broadcast resumes at 10:49 am.  Steve is parked in a weigh-mass station off of I-79. No issues. Advised that we had been through so many tunnels and under bridges that this was the first time he could restart the stream. 

Welcome to West Virginia on I-70 at 11:24 am near Valley Grove.

Stopped at the TA at 11:32 am, adjusted the trailer tandems, first try we were 180 pounds overweight on the drives, recheck we were 40 pounds over.  Steve advised that we’d burn enough fuel in no time to be under that.

Purchased windshield washer fluid for the Blue Comet.  

Near Triadelphia, at 12:12 pm, in the eastbound lane, Steve witnesses a big rig that had an accident.

Welcome to Ohio at 12:22 pm as we crossed the Ohio River near Bel Aire.

Big Rig Steve officially done at 2:40 pm safely parked  at the Sheetz near Groveport, OH.

Numbers:  416 miles to receiver, drop whenever we get there.  Next trip starts on Friday.  We covered 276 miles rolling out of Ohio, into Pennsylvania, into West Virginia and back into Ohio, including a live load at a customer.

Clocks: 5:07 hours on 11 hr,  5:51 hours on 14 hr,  47:15 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning. 

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.
