Daily Summary for 1/15/2025
Headed back to Atlanta
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 5:31 am EST at Acme Truck Stop near Southchase, Florida. It was 46, cloudy and dark. Steve had paid $20 for parking. Refer was running to pre-cool the trailer as we were starting our trip to the shipper near Lake City, FL. “Ready to go? You don’t know where we are going? Neither do I.” Steve advised he wasn’t feeling well, high allergy day. “Ok, so how do you get out of here? They’ve got the exit roped off.” Steve ended driving the opposite way through the fuel island to get out.
Rolled back on to the Florida turnpike at 5:44 am, along the row of blue street lights.
Rolled onto I-75 near Wildwood, FL (where we started out yesterday morning) at 6:33 am.
Stopped at the Pilot near Ocala, FL at 7:02 am for coffee and switched camera to daytime view. Steve also advised that he was trying some new broadcast settings today.
BRS spots a burned up big rig trailer that had had a brake fire on the side of I-75 near Reddick, FL at 7:23 am.
Welcome to Lake City at 8:22 am. Arrival at the shipper at 8:35 am to check in. Backed into a dock door at 8:53 am for our 9:00 am appointment. Status changed to “on time to delivery” at 10:09 am. We are starting our trip to the receiver near Forest Park, GA.
Rolled through the agricultural inspection station near Jasper, FL at 10:39 am, no issues.
Stopped at the Love’s at 10:51 am near Jasper for fuel for the Blue Comet.
“Alright, welcome to Georgia” at 11:26 am near Lake Park.
Steve points out, at 12:18 pm, an area of I-75 that has cameras watching for distracted drivers and spots two big rigs that were pulled over by enforcement officers.
Rest area stop at 12:46 pm to check messages near Ashburn, GA. Steve learns that he has three trips lined up.
Stopped at the Love’s near Jackson, GA to top off the refer fuel tank at 2:38 pm. Steve notes after this stop that his three trips had been removed. Phone overheats and next stream resumes at 2:58 pm.
Broadcast day ends as we near the receiver at 3:46 pm at Forest Park, GA. Steve planned to find a nearby Truck Parking Club lot nearby after delivery completed. It was later reported that delivery was completed and he was safely parked in a huge lot with free showers. Also had received a next trip, departure at 8:00 am EST for a pick up in Decatur, GA.
Numbers: 0 miles to receiver. We covered approximately 430 miles rolling out of Florida including a customer stop with live load and then into Georgia with another customer stop in Georgia for a live unload. Reached Gold status today for February. 500 gallons to Platinum.
Clocks: were not addressed as Steve was still on the clock when broadcast ended, but he had noted it would probably be a 14 hour day.

Yes, Georgia is indeed implementing mobile units to look for distracted truck drivers. Sometimes I see these camera units, which are on box-like trailers, parked alongside local interstates where I live.
Just one more note. Of the three trips Steve had between Florida and Georgia, one would have a built-in 34 hour restart.
