As The Wheels Turn
Afternoon! Sounds like a suitable soap opera for trucking! So, let’s count the delays shall we? We were running a day behind getting to this shipper because the previous delivery was delayed a day….because the previous shipper didn’t load us until midnight… See the domino effect? So lastnight we shutdown early because of the blizzard in Nebraska. Then, this morning, we moved slow because of the high winds pushing our empty trailer around on the already slick roads. We finally arrived at this shipper, fight with changing trailers that was literally caked in ice…. We sign the bills and got ready to run. Nope! Hold it a minute!! We go to scale our load and find out we are 3500 pounds overweight at the California kingpin law setting, AND we are overweight for Any state since our limit is 80,000 pounds and our weight showed 82,000. Sure, some weight might be ice, but looking at the weight listed on the bills, I could tell we were going to have issues. Since nobody believes me, I had to go get the truck certified weight papers.I did and brought back the trailer for the shipper to totally rework and remove some product. They told me they have no idea how long before it’d be ready again. Wonderful! Can we still make the 1600 miles by Sunday morning? I’m guessing not!
