Daily Summary for 12/5/2024
Third day split
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:16 am on I-85 on ramp near West Point, GA, it was 54 degrees and cloudy. We are continuing our trip to Opelika, Alabama.
Arrived at a brand new Love’s nearby at 8:25 pm. We needed to fuel the refer tank, also wanted the bosses to authorize fuel for Blue Comet to no avail. Coffee was also acquired.
Welcome to Alabama as we cross the Chattahoochee River at 8:45 am near Lanett. Also welcome back to Central Time Zone at 7:46 am.
Arrival at the shipper at 8:00 am. Camera was put into selfie mode during the drop and hook. Another trip safely completed at 8:47 am.
We are starting our trip to the next shipper. Love’s for fuel for the Blue Comet at 9:48 am near Shorter, AL. Continue on I-85, then I-65 north at Montgomery, AL.
Broadcast resumes at 11:02 am as Steve it at the Love’s near Canton, AL. Steve advised, “alright, who broke the stream.” He then blows out the trailer and then gets fresh coffee.
I-65 headed to the shipper in Decatur, AL at 11:33 am trying to get loaded early. Steve advised we had been doing three days of splits, currently we have 2+ hours on the 11 hour clock and 2:59 on the 14 hour, so we need to work that out tonight. Steve advised that he had been moving hard since he left the house on Monday.
He points out downtown Birmingham at 12:21 pm.
Story time at 12:58 pm about the Petro coming up near Dodge City, AL and a buffet that used to be there.
Pilot near Decatur, AL at 1:35 pm. Done for the day, found parking. We are in a good position for our next trip. We will get our 10 hour break taken care of.
Numbers: 6 miles to shipper. We covered 256 miles rolling out of Georgia and into Alabama.
Clocks: 0:33 hours on 11 hr, 1:08 hours on 14 hr, 31:07 hours on 70 hr. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning. Steve is amazed that we have eaten up 1/2 of our 70 hour clock already.
