BRT Late Night Edition
Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:56 pm EDT, 68 degrees and dark near Ellenwood, Georgia, nighttime camera mode activated. “You all ready for a night run? Let’s go!”
Stopped at the Petro near Atlanta, GA at 9:36 pm to top off the refer tank.
Arrival at shipper at 10:14 pm near Kennesaw, GA. Drop and hook is completed at 10:42 pm and status changed to “on time to delivery”. Starting our overnight trip to Hickory Grove, South Carolina.
BRS starts some game show discussion as we roll north of Atlanta at 11:15 pm.
Welcome to South Carolina at 12:41 am near FairPlay, SC.
I-85 at 1:08 am a Penske box truck passes the Blue Comet near White Plains, SC with its back door open.
Stopped at the Love’s near Pelzer, SC at 1:11 am for coffee and a leg stretch.
We exit I-85 at 2:41 am near Blacksburg, SC, time for backroads in the dark.
Stream ends at 3:01 am as we are so far out in the boonies that even the truck GPS stopped working. We were getting near the receiver though.
Broadcast resumed at 7:06 am, parked at the receiver near Hickory Grove, SC. It was 55 degrees with the predawn occurring. We were unloading still at the customer. Delivery completed at 8:48 am and status changed to “headed to shipper”.
Stopped at the Flying J at 9:15 am near Blacksburg, SC for coffee.
BRS spots a big rig attempting to make a wrong way turn on to an off ramp of I-26 near Inman, SC at 10:25 am.
Welcome to North Carolina at 10:34 am near Tryon, NC.
Arrival at the shipper near Hendersonville, NC at 11:34 am. Backed into a dock door at 11:48 am for a live load. At this point Steve advised we had 2 hrs and 3 minutes remaining on our 14 hour clock as we were running a split clock and that we would need to find parking and shut down for a full 10 hour break.
BRS also advised “Hope you enjoyed the backroads this morning as we are not going to do that again.”
Our loading is completed at 12:44 pm and status changed to “on time to delivery.” Started our trip to Elkwood, VA. We were loaded three hours early.
Big Rig Steve officially done at 1:33 pm safely parked near Fletcher, NC as BRS had to make a spot on the edge of the lot as the FedEx truck had grabbed the last spot. Clock stopped at 1:33 pm. Our drive window reopens at 12:00 am.
Numbers: 483 miles to receiver which is a live unload at 10:00 am. We covered 135 miles since 12:00 am PDT rolling out of Georgia, into South Carolina and into North Carolina.
Clocks: 1:33 hours on 11 hr, 0:17 hours on 14 hr, 58:40 hours on 70 hr. Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
Steve hopes to be live between 12:00 and 12:30 am. As always, it is subject to change.
