Getting Out of South Carolina

Big Rig Steve officially done at 7:45 pm EDT safely parked near Old Glade Springs, Virginia, 58 degrees and dark.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:55 am EDT at the Love’s near Dillon, SC.  73 degrees and sunshine.  First thing was to fuel all the tanks, then continued our trip to the shipper.

Welcome to North Carolina and 10:48 am.

Weigh Mass station, no bypass at 11:10 am, no issues and he drives on.

Broadcast ends as we arrived near the shipper in Tar Heel, NC at 11:39 am.  It resumes at 12:43 pm as BRS leaves the shipper with new loaded trailer in tow.  Status changed to on time to delivery.  BRS noted that he had weighed the load on site, but we needed to double check at a CAT scale which created a change in our route to accomplish that.

Cat Scale at 1:49 pm for the weigh mass check near Maxton, NC.  We are perfectly legal.

BRS storytime at 2:04 pm about a previous stay near Maxton.

A red Corvette, passing the Blue Comet on the right at 3:39 pm, that then slows the Blue Comet by driving slowly in front of us.  BRS is not sure whether this is road crew or someone with road rage.  They eventually get off and out of our way.

Near Winston-Salem, NC at 4:15 pm, BRS notes, “slight detour”, but navigates us back on the correct route.

Love’s stop for our 30 minute break at 5:15 pm, a hummingbird appeared to try to get into the Blue Comet noted by road crew member Gus Jones.  We end up completing our 30 minute break before we get through the fuel island line.  While Steve is inside getting fresh coffee and hot dogs with onions, road crew visit from TJElevatorfan.  BRS notes at 6:59 pm the refer alarm is going again, and pulls off at a rest area at 7:09 pm to check out the issue.  It appears to be running again.

At 7:34 pm, Steve comes across a big rig, completely rolled over on the opposite side of the road.

Numbers:  153 miles to receiver, delivery is a live unload anytime between 6 am and 6 pm.  Steve projected leaving around 6:30 am, but as always that is subject to change.  We covered 315 miles rolling in South and North Carolinas and Virginia.

Clocks: 3:05 hours on 11 hr,  3:48 hours on 14 hr,  50:53 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
