Goodbye to Florida

Big Rig Steve officially done at 2:30 pm EDT safely parked at the Love’s near Yemassee, South Carolina.  As we pulled in, BRS noted “Check that out, truck just left us a parking spot.”  It had a fuel island view and a watch party started with a discussion about the Blue Comet losing coolant.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:26 am near the shipper in Oak Ridge, Florida.  Sunshine and 78 degrees.  BRS had been allowed to spend the night after loading was completed near the shipper.

BRS met two road crew last night.  Also noted the 70 hour clock was short and may not be able to do the entire trip.  We will see where we get to today.

Love’s near Daytona, FL for coffee stop at 9:47 am. BRS advised he had purchased two Love’s 60th anniversary, limited edition, tractor tanker trailer.  One for him and one for future road crew activity.

Near Jacksonville, Florida at 11:16 am Steve points out Port Jacksonville on the right as we rolled on the east beltway of I-295.

BRS comes up on a line of 20 or more utility repair vehicles heading north on I-95 at 11:35 am.

No bypass for the weigh mass station at 11:39 am near Gross, FL.  No issues.

Next was the FL ag inspection station at 11:44 am.  Steve said this was the first time in years he had to show paperwork.

11:46 am, welcome to Georgia.  Steve said “hope you enjoyed your trip through Florida.  It may be a couple of years before we come back.”

We stopped on the shoulder of I-95 at 12:55 pm to add more coolant to the Blue Comet.

We stopped at the Pilot at Port Wentworth, GA at 11:44 am.  We did a drive through as no parking was available.

Welcome to South Carolina at 1:50 pm, our third state of the day.

Numbers:  700+ miles to receiver.  We covered 270 miles rolling out of Florida, through Georgia and into South Carolina.  8 day running total of 2566 miles.

Clocks: 5:09 hours on 11 hr,  7:28 hours on 14 hr,  1:42 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 5:17 hours tomorrow morning.
