Big Rig Steve officially done on 9/24/24 at 3:54 pm EDT safely parked near Montgomery County, Virginia.

36 hour marathon broadcast

9/22/2024 Sunday

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began on Sunday 9/22/24 near Columbus, OH at 7:13 pm.  Beginning an overnight trip that will turn into an 18 hour workday.

Stopped at the Love’s near Bellville, OH for fuel, 80 gallons at 8:24 pm.  Switched to the new nighttime camera which is a more narrow view, but brighter for the viewers.  It also gives a better perspective of what Steve is seeing at night.  

Arrival at the receiver near Austinburg, OH at 11:00 pm for a live unload.  

9/23/2024 Monday

Delivery finally complete at 4:08 am.

Headed to the Pilot nearby for coffee exchange at 4:15 am on Monday now 9/23/24.

Then, arrived at the Blue Beacon near Girad, OH for a trailer washout at 5:25 am.

Arrival at the shipper of the next trip near Massillion, OH at 7:08 am.  Loading only took 30 minutes!

Broadcast resumes at 7:52 am leaving the shipper, a cloudy start.  BRS notes we are heavy.  Arrival at the CAT scale at 8:27 am for weigh mass check at the Pilot near Canton, OH.  Small adjustment required. 

At 10:20 am, Welcome to Pennsylvania.  

BRS stopped to end our day at the Love’s near Brookville, PA at 11:49 am as we needed to complete our 10 hour break.  We had been on a split clock and been awake for 18 hours.  We had 186 miles to go and had covered 290 miles since midnight.  Steve had lost track of how many miles prior to that.    At this point, our clock read 0:16 hours on the 11 hr, 0:49 hours on the 14 hr, 57:18 hours on the 70 hr clock.  Steve advised we cannot drive until 10:00 pm tonight.  Delivery is at 8:00 am on Tuesday 9/24 near Elizabethtown, PA.  BRS plans to leave at 3:00 am in order to get to delivery on time.

9/24/2024 Tuesday

At 2:50 am, next broadcast begins at the Love’s where we had completed our 10 hour break in Brookville, PA. 

We stopped for coffee at the Love’s prior to our delivery.  BRS notes we are running on fumes; the Blue Comet that is at 6:52 am near Elizabethtown, PA.

Arrival at delivery at 7:20 am.  Delivery is completed at 8:57 am. Steve noted it only took 30 minutes once they had started unloading.  Status changed to headed to shipper, near Hershey, PA.

BRS, “ok…welcome to Hershey” at 9:14 am.  Arrival at shipper at 9:24 am.  Drop and hook is completed at 9:55 am.  Status changed to on time to delivery.

Starting our trip to Kennesaw, Georgia.  “All right, let’s go.”

Stopped at the Love’s near Carlisle, PA off of I-81 for fuel for the Blue Comet at 10:42 am.

A dog is barking at us at 11:03 am as we waited to exit the fuel island.  BRS noted, “oh, he’s mad.”

BRS spotted at 11:20 am, road crew as we entered the on ramp back onto I-81 holding a BRS road crew flag.  Steve noted that you could get your own BRS flag at the BRT online store.  He would have missed the road crew had they not had the flag.

Welcome to West Virginia at 12:15 pm.

Later we rolled into Virginia at 12:40 pm.  

Numbers for 9/24:  423 miles to receiver.  We covered 530 miles including a live delivery and a drop and hook.

Clocks for 9/24: 0:31 hours on 11 hr,  0:25 hours on 14 hr,  44:58 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
