Daily Summary for 5/7/2024

“We’ve been on the road all day, where’ve you been?”

Big Rig Steve officially done at 20:14 EDT safely parked near Love’s in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 8:45 CDT in North Lake, Illinois at the AF paid truck parking.  Continuing our trip to the shipper at University Park, IL, a rainy start yet again today.  

BRS says at 9:08 CDT, “How you all doing?”

BRS discusses at 9:35 CDT, road line color are hard to see in the rain, that’s why in Utah they have 1/2 black, 1/2 white for better visibility in various conditions. 

A black car comes up besides us at 9:57 CDT with no headlights on, in the heavy rain, “almost did not see that little black car.”

Arrival at the Blue Beacon for a trailer washout near Monee, IL at 10:11 CDT.

Arrival at the shipper at 10:55 CDT in the door for our live load at 10:16 CDT.  BRS chats with road crew while we waited, answering the usual questions.  Paperwork is ready at 13:17 CDT, BRS heads in, to pick up the paperwork in the office.  Our status is now changed to “On time to delivery” at 13:24 CDT as we rolled out of the customer lot back onto I-57, BRS said 1.5 hours to load, not bad.

We roll onto US 30 eastbound at 14:08 CDT near Merrillville, IN.  Stopped at the Love’s near Plymouth, IN at 16:18 EDT, Cat scale to check mass/weight and fuel for the Blue Comet and coffee for BRS.  Our weight was good.

BRS stops at the travel plaza near West Unity, OH at 19:00 EDT mainly to find his nighttime glasses.  The stream had stopped during this stop, BRS suspected it was due to overheating because he was cold, he had the heater running which most likely overheated the phone.  Continued back on I-80 at 19:14 EDT.

Numbers:  550 miles 855 km to receiver.  We covered 328 miles 527 km rolling through IL, IN and into OH, including a live load.

Clocks: 3:30 hours on 11 hr,  3:03 hours on 14 hr,  45:31 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning.
