Daily Summary for 4/1/2025

Columbus, OH to Haw River, NC

Big Rig Travels Tuesday began at 8:08 am EDT.  It was 40 degrees, overcast and gloomy in Columbus, OH, we were just completing our hook at the shipper.  “Paperwork, paperwork.  There we go, locked in.”  We are starting our trip to Wilmington, NC.

On US23 near Lockbourne, OH, we stop as the recording camera view had changed to sky watching.  We pulled over to correct the view.  “Standby, standby, there you ain’t going nowhere now.”

Love’s stop for a free refill of our coffee at 8:55 am near Circleville, OH, and filled our bucket with water.

Rest area stop near Adamsville, OH, “Looks like every spot is filled up” so we stopped on the entrance ramp at 10:13 am to request fuel.  Back onto US35 at 10:22 am.

Stopped at the Love’s near Bidwell, OH, “Looks like a full fuel island” at 10:26 am as we needed to get our fuel.

“We have two recordings going on a 360 camera and also the regular…we are almost out of Ohio.”  Back onto US35 at 10:42 am.

Welcome to West Virginia as we cross the Ohio River on the Silver bridge at 10:51 am.

“End of US35” at 11:25 am near Teays Valley, WV, we are now rolling onto I-64.

We enter the West Virginia turnpike toll plaza, then afterwards stop on the side to plug the 360 camera in at 12:04 pm near Cabin Creek, WV.

Rolling through Beckley, WV at 12:44 pm, we were looking for Greg Treadway near the travel plaza overpass.  “I don’t see him, maybe he’s working today.  There is life beyond Big Rig Travels.”  Note: Greg was in the chat room during the playback and advised that he was on the other side of town when Steve came through.

I-77 tunnel at Bluefield, WV at 1:29 pm and as we exited it, entered Virginia near Rocky Gap at 1:31 pm.

Pulled into the weigh mass station at 2:26 pm, Steve said “look at the line,” we had no issues.  Shortly afterwards, entered the Walker Mountain tunnel at 2:33 pm near Bland, VA.

“Alright, welcome to North Carolina” at 3:19 pm.  It was 61 degrees and mostly sunny.

Big Rig Steve officially done at 5:00 pm near Haw River, NC at the Love’s.

Live watch party with the 360 camera occurred later that evening in Haw River which ended at 8:29 pm as the crew was able to watch the camera get lowered down and the broadcast ended.

Numbers:  167 miles to receiver, delivery tomorrow at 11:00 am in Wilmington, NC.  We covered 447 miles rolling out of Ohio, through West Virginia, Virginia and into North Carolina.  438 gallons to Gold status.

Clocks: 1:33 hours on 14 hr,  9:04 hours on 70 hr.  Gain back 9:40 hours tomorrow morning. 

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.

  1. 360 is a neat view. Metaquest needs to make an option is settings to make the viewing much clearer like have a setting to increase the resolution Also make a way to make a setting increase the refresh rate in their headsets.
