Daily Summary for 3/29/2025

Abilene, KS to Pontoon Beach, IL

Big Rig Travels Saturday began at 9:28 am CDT at the Love’s near Abilene, KS.  It was 62 degrees and mostly cloudy.  Fuel and fresh coffee to start the trip.  “Guess what I did this morning?  Woke up late.”  Steve advised “so going to assume today we are recording a full video.  Yesterday it just recorded three one-minute segments.”  Back onto I-70  east.

BRS points out a patrol car leaving the median at 10:01 am. “Uh oh, there he goes, he’s going after somebody.”

Story time at 10:13 am, BRS describes what he witnessed yesterday.

BRS points out Kansas City, downtown skyline at 12:13 pm.

Welcome to Missouri at 12:14 pm.  We are passing both football and baseball stadiums at 12:22 pm.

Love’s stop near Boonville, MO at 1:52 pm.  “Hot dogs…hot dogs.”  Back onto I-70 at 2:06 pm.

Near Columbia, MO at 2:30 pm a red pickup truck was slowly merging into the Blue Comet’s lane.  

A small blue car at 4:30 pm near Ferguson, MO sped past us at 107 mph.  “Anything to get to your exit.”

I-270, BRS points out Chain of Rocks bridge at 4:25 pm as we were crossing the Mississippi River.  Welcome to Illinois near Granite City, IL.

Arrival at 4:33 pm at the Flying J near Pontoon Beach, IL.  “Let’s see if there is any parking here.  Plenty plenty of parking, no worries.”

Big Rig Steve officially done at 4:38 pm, safely parked.

Numbers:  340 miles to receiver, delivery is a drop that we’ll try to complete tomorrow.  We covered 410 miles rolling out of Kansas, through Missouri and into Illinois.

Clocks: 4:20 hours on 11 hr,  6:26 hours on 14 hr,  19:14 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning. 

Steve advised that the next trip is a preloaded trailer on the 31st.
