Daily Summary for 1/27/2024

Big Rig Steve officially done for the day at 15:30 MST safely parked near Salt Lake City, UT in a remote area.

Title: Found (trailer) and Lost (trip)

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 10:44 MST in Corrine, UT as Bobtail Bob.  The trailer hunting begins.  We needed an empty good trailer with a receipt documenting a washout.

Headed south on I-15/I-84, no bypass again at the mass/weigh station near Brigham City, UT at 10:59 MST.  No issues. Just prior to the the scale we passed Road Crew member Sam Dillsaver going the opposite direction on I-15. Thanks to Sam and FlyingintheWV for the intel we have photographic evidence.

Arrived at a Maverik near West Valley City, UT at 12:45 MST for fresh coffee, unfortunately they don’t offer their burritos on the weekend.

Broadcast ends at 13:05 MST near our arrival at the terminal to grab an empty good trailer.

Broadcast resumes at 13:42 MST, we have scored a brand new trailer, so headed to get the washout at the Blue Beacon. Arrival at the Blue Beacon near Salt Lake City at 13:55 MST, unfortunately a long line waiting to get their washouts as well.  Email alert chime at 14:30 MST, Steve asked “do you want the good news or the bad news?” The bad news was we lost our trip to Port of Oakland, the good news was the pressure was off. It was a time sensitive trip and we were short on hours. We now are going to relax and take a 34 hour restart.

We roll across the street to the Flying J to find parking, but there is none to be found.  BRS would have had a beautiful view of the mountains. We continued the search for a few more miles before finding a spot for the rest of the weekend.

Numbers:  We covered 90 miles 144 km rolling in and around Salt Lake City, UT.

Clocks: 10:54 hours on 70 hr.  Do not gain back hours tomorrow morning. 34 hour restart in progress.

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow.   Watch the website for the next trip to be posted.  Enjoy your weekend.  Choose the BRT YouTube channel alarm bell to receive notifications for the start of our broadcast.
