Daily Summary for 5/21/2024

Home sweet home

Big Rig Steve broadcast day officially done at 11:58 CDT safely parked at the Speedway in Belvidere, Illinois.  BRS will be on off-time until bringing the Blue Comet to Gary, IN for shop day on Monday.

Big Rig Travels broadcast day began at 9:16 CDT at the Love’s in Gary, IN.  BRS spent some time explaining the PC (Personal conveyance) rules that are typically limited to 25 miles a day.  In case of using in emergency that only applies in unforeseen circumstances.  We stopped with 30 minutes on the 14 hour clock and was held beyond that time.  BRS was told he could not use PC to go home even though other drivers do that illegally, because it would continue our trip back to Belvidere for time off.

On the road again, near Hoffman Estates, IL at 10:50 CDT,  BRS had story time about tailgating, not being able to see item sitting on or along the highway.  A clothes washer!  Playback to hear Steve describe.

Around 11:09 CDT stream lost near Huntley IL, but resumed shortly after to continue the trip home on US 20.

Numbers and Clocks were not discussed since they will be irrelevant after time off.  We will get a fresh 70 hour clock.

No alarm clock ⏰ tomorrow, BRS gets to sleep in if the flooffs don’t wake him up early.   Choose the BRT YouTube channel alarm bell to receive notifications for the start of our broadcast.

  1. Hello Steve, I’m from Germany and have been following your channel for a few weeks. I always enjoy watching you drive and your experiences. I’ve already bought you a coffee. My question: what is the meaning of the symbol Mash it

    • Mash-It is expression made for driver is first starting truck in gear and stomping down on the accelerator pedal to fev up engine for take off

  2. I wonder if the shop will really be open on Memorial Day. It seems like Steve was scheduled for a shop day on a holiday a while back and they were closed, but I could be misremembering that.

    • Mike N. Hmm could it be possible that BRS just making the trip down to the shop at some point on Monday and service would be when crews are back on duty maybe even Tuesday morning ?? Watch the website status bar and be sure to have BRT alert 🔔 bell to receive notifications on Monday’s and we will all find out together

    • yes shop is open on Monday

  3. Steve just had a shop day last month when he came back after the medical leave. They did all kinds of work to it that day. Time for another shop visit so soon???

    • Everytime we hit a bump, we get traction errors as well as lose cruise control and other assorted caution dash lights.
