Good morning. It sure was nice to sleep in for a change. Today is the season finale for 2015! We will finish up the last two hours to San Antonio today then play catchup on my paperwork then make our 5pm delivery. When all that is done I will start my few days off.
It has been a wonderful year and am very glad to have so many Road Crew folks traveling America with me every single day! Thanks to all that have supported me and the website this year! 2016 will be an exciting year for us as well as we roll closer to ONE MILLION MILES!
We attempted our first delivery but was turned away. I am waiting for news on the new rescheduled delivery time… Hang out and get rest while we can since I am willing to bet our new delivery appointment will be midnight!
Update… Our delivery has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning and the final delivery pushed out as well… Guess that means a free day to throw snowballs at the road crew!
BTW many thanks for helping the website out by doing all your Amazon.com shopping through my links. It is appreciated and I just got the numbers for November and December and y’all done good! Remember, that works everyday of the year not just during Christmas.
Good morning. Well as I’m sure you have seen on the news reports, Texas is one big mess right now. Blizzards, ice and snow in the entire area of where our travels will take us. Interstate 40 is closed between New Mexico and Oklahoma. Interstate 27 south of Amarillo and all the way to San Antonio is pretty much a standstill according to live traffic maps…. I think I will go back to bed because there is no point in rushing to get into that mess just to be stuck in the middle of it. We will be late for our first delivery but I am sure there will be alot of late freight because of this storm. On the map below, the gray dots is ice and snow on roads and the blue is closed roads due to flooding… We will take another look at things in the daylight…
A few observations about us waking up to negative 19 yesterday in Rawlings, Wyoming…
When we stopped for dinner yesterday in Lamar, Colorado, it was 30 degrees. A full 50 degrees warmer yet still not even above freezing!
Another observation is my trailer is currently set to maintain a negative 10 temperature. I noticed it had the heater running to WARM UP the trailer to negative 10… Now THAT’S cold!
Good Sunday Morning! Since alot of the trip will not have much of a signal once we get past the Denver and Limon, Colorado areas, here are some videos recorded in the new Full HD version yesterday and of course, this Sunday’s video! It will let you travel some of the beautiful roads we were on yesterday…..
Good afternoon. I kept waiting to make a blog entry until I found out exactly what was going on. We drove all through the night in ice and snow to make our delivery Christmas eve. We missed our appointment by an hour and they closed on us. We then we’re told to make the delivery yesterday at 3pm. We tried but they were still closed. We finally made the delivery this morning. Seems like my overnight run was all for nothing. Oh well glad that trip is now done and over with. We are already in our door being loaded for our next trip. I will post that info in a few minutes…
Good afternoon Road Crew! We sat a few hours and just when our sleep time was finished, they lifted the chain law at 7pm. I decided I would make one last ditch effort to save this load for ontime delivery. We ran through the night and encountered snow, wind, and icy roads just about the whole way to Utah. We took 10 hours and 54 minutes to drive just 427 miles! We missed our deadline so we will have to wait and make the drop delivery tomorrow afternoon. We gave it our all, but the slow speeds on winter driving days are more important. We already have our next trip lined up and picks up Saturday! Look who I found at the truckstop lastnight. They are ready for tonight!
Good morning from Pendleton, Oregon at the base of Cabbage Patch. They currently have the chain law in effect at the top of the mountain … so that means we are stopping until they lift the chain law. It looks pretty bad and if chains are required to keep from sliding, then I don’t need to be out in it. It isn’t that I am afraid of my driving, but if it is that bad, then its the others that I’m worried about! We sit until they sand and plow the roads….
In the meantime, check out the very first test video from my new phone! I recorded it the other day starting in the Magic Mountains in Oregon. This video is bigger sized than previous ones I have recorded….Tell me what ya think!
Morning. We started out early this morning and arrived at our shipper. Currently waiting on a door to open up for us. The mountains are closed and a winter storm due to roll in a few hours is expected to dump another 8-10 inches each day over the next three days. We changed our routing so we will head back south to Portland then go east across 84 from there.
