Daily Summary for 10/14/2025

Allentown, PA to Gordonsville, VA

Big Rig Travels day began at 10:34 am near Allentown, PA and the Wawa.  Let’s get some coffee to start the day out right.  BRS advises we are going to be taking some backroads and driving straight through.

Slow down around Maxatawny Twp, PA at 11:00 am.  “If its going to stay this way the whole way, we should have started two days ago.”

Welcome to Maryland at 1:00 pm near Parkton.  Weigh mass station “Pull in, unless closed.” No bypass.  License and registration pulled.  “1,000 over in the back, but only 35,000 pounds total.”  BRS: “That’s not good, that’s not good.”  He was 29,000 lbs in front and 35,600 in the back, so 1060 over and a $46 fine.  You don’t drive 20 years and not make a single mistake.”

In Baltimore slowdown around 1:45 pm.

Welcome to Virginia at 2:45 pm near McLean.

Another slowdown around 3:15 pm near Washington, DC metro area.

Stopped at 4:16 pm at a local truck stop near Elkwood, VA.  “I need to stretch my legs, we went 250 miles without stopping.”  Steve went in to look for some good coffee and maybe a hamburger or something like that.  His plan is to take 1:15 hr break since he can’t show up too early.  Appointment isn’t until 7:30 pm and can’t show up more than 1 hour early.  48 miles of backroads, so will get back on road around 5:15 pm or so.

Back on the road at 5:17 pm.

Arrive at delivery near 6:24 pm, near Gordonsville, VA.  Stream ends.

  1. Hope you enjoyed the trip down Route 222 while passing through my hometown of Denver. I was caught in the traffic slowdown coming the opposite direction on route 30 when you passed by. The Turkey Hill Experience is a neat place to go if you’re ever in the area, it basically shows you how they make their products for the Turkey Hill convienent stores in the area. The river you passed over has flooded several times over the years, my great aunt and uncle had a house along the river that got flooded quite a bit. Well, hope you enjoyed a trip through Lancaster county, safe travels to your next stop.
