Daily Summary for 2/28/2023

Big Rig Steve officially ended the day safely parked at one of his favorite stops for coffee at Smiths Grove, Kentucky at 15:42 CST. BRS captured the best seat in the house to view out the Blue Comet (BC) window. Delivery is a short 1 mile distance away tomorrow morning. A watch party began and was on going while this daily summary was finalized.

Today title:  Found refrigerator to go with all the furniture this month on BRT

The day started at 8:40 EST where we ended up yesterday in Jackson, Georgia. BRS drove BC over to the Loves next door to get coffee for the road. The RC received the beautiful view out the front window of BC of fresh white blossoms on the trees at the edge of the lot. Yes, beautiful sunny day was upon BRT.

Big Rig Steve rolled back on to the big road I-75 north and advised that he had contacted receiver yesterday and they will not take delivery early. Delivery tomorrow is first come first serve, open any time between 8:00 CST and 15:00 CST so we will mosey up towards delivery today.

Near Forest Park ,GA BRS exited of I-75 on to I-285 Atlanta by-pass at 9:35 EST just as a large aircraft shadow went over the BC and shortly afterwards the plane was visible going across the front of the BC on its approach to Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.  At 9:39 EST BRS spotted another plane which buzzed the hood of the BC as we were in slow traffic near the end of the runway approach.  (Suggest playing back todays stream to 9:39 EST).  BC rolled thru the tunnels that the airport runway taxiways crossed over I-285. BRS said some day when we go through here, we will see a plane rolling over us.

At 10:13 EST, we played tag and eventually passed Big Rig Tootsie Roll and Tootsie Pop Trailer on the right side of us also working its way thru Atlanta, GA. (BRS did not have an answer to how many licks to the center)

Fuel stop occurred at 13:02 CST near Hillsboro, TN where BRS was able to reach Platinum status for next month. Yes, tomorrow we start working on Loves status for April. (BRS monthly template.. Gold by tenth, Platinum by twentieth, Diamond by 30th of the month).  Maybe High Point band could work that into a song for Big Rig Travels.

Near Manchester, TN, we did not get a green bypass and the flashing lights noted the mass / weigh station was open so we did the drive through, no issues.

Nashville was traffic heavy as always. One thing of interest was a full size refrigerator on I-24 at 14:04 CST. Yes, luckily it was not in BRS driving lane. Nashville, TN skyline was brilliant today in the sunshine.

Numbers for today : 1 mile 1.6 km to delivery , 379 miles 609 km covered today rolling out of Georgia, thru Tennessee and into Kentucky. Clocks: 3:48 on the 11, 5:25 on the 14, 4:13 hours on the 70. Gain back 8:38 hours tomorrow morning. 8.1 MPG this trip

We have reached Platinum Loves status to be used in March. Our February Diamond status and free Oreos ended today.  No stream on short trip to delivery tomorrow morning. Watch status bar on the web site for updates tomorrow for the next trip.

If I missed something you can always find it by watching the stream from today on Big Rig Travels website.  Also view the just completed February photos of the day under photography tab on the website.

Another good day for Big Rig Travels.

Welcome to Kentucky
