Big Rig Steve stopped the clocks ended the day at 18:25 MST safely parked in cold “brrr” Burlington, CO after fueling the Blue Comet. Yes, Steve had excellent signal here which normally had not been the case at this location. With the BRT closing theme playing all BRT RC chat members said good night to Steve as he repositioned as a preventive measure to protect us from someone from hitting us during the night.

BRS started the day in cold Denver, CO. Broadcast started at 9:19 MST after finally finding a fresh trailer to bring to the shipper for an originally scheduled drop and hook of a preloaded trailer. At least that was the plan last evening as we had arrived back at the drop yard. (Plans are always subject to change )
We jumped ( just for you Jim/Janet) over the Quebec street train tracks one last time in this second season and away we went westward on I-70 towards the shipper.
9:45 MST we exited off at Wheat Ridge to get coffee at the TA in case the load was a live load as the intelligence was now indicating. Steve noted that he has never ever in the past had to be subjected to live loading at this shipper. BRS left the crew to go climb around the mountains as the Blue Comet arrived at the shipper at 10:06 MST.
Yes, the day flew by for the BRT RC climbing around the mountain while waiting for BRS and BC to reappear with our next trip.
14:58 MST status changed to on time to delivery, we all jumped back in as we were on the way back to Wheat Ridge TA to visit the Cat Scale to check our mass/weight. The first entry was all backed up with big rigs out into the street. Enough of that mess, BRT herded BC back on the street and up to the back entrance. We were legal and out we went only to be met by needing to make an ugly left turn to get to the east bound access. What a mess getting in and out of that TA even BRT moderator and fellow driver of the red big rig out of Idaho Sam Dillsaver noted in the BRT YT chat a terrible place to exit out of that TA. Good bye Wheat Ridge TA!!
As we rolled east of Denver, BRS started a mileage countdown but the reason was unclear as to what was going to happen when he reached zero. Wait for it, yes wait for it…. yes the (BC) Blue Comet reached 96,000 miles at 16:29 MST on the video stream. Stratton, CO at 17:41 MST lots and lots of beef cows in the pasture along side of I-70 as we we past them.
Daylight was disappearing to the east as we approached Burlington, CO which made the beautiful blinking ❤️on top of the Loves sign visible as we approached. (Image is included posted at the end of this summary )
18:00 MST we needed two things: one being tractor fuel and second a place to park for the night. Yes, this will be home for the night. Best part was no waiting in fuel line as there were several open fuel spots at the fuel island. We stopped at the right time. Woo hoo! BRS was going to grab hotdogs…wait for it… they had the onions but unfortunately they didn’t have his favorite hotdog available to go with them. Dag nabit.
Steve and the BRT RC witnessed and heard another big rig hit the concrete barriers as he backed in to park. Yes, Steve had predicted the inevitable impact several minutes before it occurred as we were finishing going over the numbers.
Numbers for the day: 1,400 miles 2,253 km to delivery, we covered 199 miles 320 km today including to the shipper. Clocks: 6:05 on the 11 hour , 6:18 on the 14 hour, 9:56 on the 70 hour. We gain back 10:56 hours tomorrow morning. Last eight days running total 2,303 miles 3,706 km. Steve noted we are extremely heavy as load is 44,800 lbs so we will not be filling much more than half a tank this trip. 224 gallons to Loves platinum status. Should make that by end of the month. Plan is 500 miles 804 km tomorrow.
We ended the day with approximately 13 miles to the Kansas state line. No alarm clock tomorrow morning.
