Daily Summary for 8/23/2025

Salem, VA to Catlettsburg, KY

Big Rig Travels day began at 12:11 pm near Salem, VA.  It is 77 degrees and mostly cloudy.  Welcome to weekend driving.  We are deadheading, starting our trip to the shipper near Stuarts Draft, VA.  Steve advised he didn’t finish last night until after midnight.  He parked overnight in a little cubby near the receiver.  Trailer is loaded and ready.  Delivery is tomorrow in Edwardsville, IL.  First thing is coffee.

Stop at the One 9 Fuel stop near Daleville, VA at 12:40 pm.

Stop at the Blue Beacon for a trailer washout at 1:46 pm near Raphine, VA.  Reminisced about a museum that used to be here before Petro came in and sanitized it.  Trailer washout completed at 2:13 pm.

Arrived at the shipper at 2:36 pm.  Noted that the last visit here, they needed to rework the load two times.  Load is booked at 33,000 pounds, but the bills say 44,000 pounds.  That is what BRS was worried about.

Leaving the shipper at 3:04 pm.  Status is changed to “on time to delivery” as we start our trip to Edwardsville, IL.

Love’s near Sauton, VA at 3:18 pm for CAT scale.  “We are over on the back end which is easier that the other way.”  He adjusts trailer a notch or two.  Then time for coffee and hotdogs with onions.

Leaving the George Washington National Forest at 5:12 pm.  Welcome to West Virginia near White Sulpher Springs.

Searched for parking at the TA near Teays Valley, WV, only paid parking was available.  Steve advised that we aren’t paying for parking here.

Welcome to Kentucky at 8:33 pm near Catlettsburg.

Big Rig Steve officially done at 8:44 pm at the Flying J near Catlettsburg, KY.
